FB holden 1960 12 months rego (plates NOT included) Engineered. 5ltr fuel injected, Ford 9 inch, 4 speed auto
5 ltr holden motor 304 CI fuel injected standard computer, basically a shell fb holden with all vn commodore gear, utilises the engine, transmission T700 4 speed, dash, engine ECU, master cylinder and brake booster, steering column, floor pan middle section and hand brake in the middle, standard vn commodore radiator.
Ford 9 inch diff holden resplined axles, 3.89 ratio tru trac center.
minitubbed rear (engineered for 225 x 15 inch wheels) currently 265 x 15 inch tyres
Stengthened T 700 includes corvette servo, the beaste reaction sun shell, shift kitted, other mods.
Engine is minor improvements include flat top pistons, heads stainless valves, roller rockers, double row timing chain, high volume oil pump, polished covers, aluminium radiator, extractors and twin 2.5 inch exhaust, aluminium fuel tank 58
Body has New sills inner and outer, boot floor, lower quarters, whole middle floor section and front floor pans. bonnet tilts forward. hQ holden rear brakes, Vt twin spot calipers , Vt cross drilled and vented rotors. All custom interior as seen pictures. the dash from VN commodore has bee used for instrument cluster, After market heater useless but for rego requirement needed. The car has small things which I was to complete and upgrade but got the car registered and engineered so I could enjoy while saving up up to continue.
History: This car was modified around the use of a Castlemaine Rod Shop Kit (CRS). It comprised of front HR holden crossmember strengthened internally and clearance for sump, bottom control arms strengthened, and 2 inch drop spindles used. the hopper stopper kit was used for front brakes as seen in picture. A shortened LH torana steering rack mounted on the front of the crossmember ( came supplied as from CRS).The extractors came in the kit which had relieve holes cut for the manifolds to exit through inner fenders.Chassis strengthening rails tie from front to back and 2 plates made off 3mm thick metal were tig welded to the under side of the front clip to where the front cross member and guards bolt to.The front radiator support was cut bigger and the radiator tie bar was remade to allow the standard size radiator from the VN commodore to be used along with a custom shroud for the flex fan . The bonnet was turned into a front tilt bonnet making room to lose the hinges and mount full size commodore booster and master cylinder.
My list which of things which could be better are,
1. front bar rechromed, 2 rear bar rechromed, 3. could use a center console. boot detailed. front wheel alignment.4.small coolant leak bottom hose radiator5.Bigger sway bar front. 6.NO radio fitted.7 the bonnet where the gt bonnet pins have been fitted paint needs fixing.
All said and done most people could NOT achieve this kind of build and the vehicle has a full engineering certificate for ALL modifications. Absolutely gets all kinds of looks and people love the car. I get very bored very easy and would like to build something else. I have no urgency to sell but if the right person with the right price I just might let it go.
