Description

The very good: Fully optioned top of the range Holden Astra Turbo Convertible, originally sold for $49,990. Came with the larger factory 17inch wheels as standard giving it a much nicer look than the standard car. Never crashed, no rust it is absolutely in very good condition. Perfect mechanicals, perfect gearbox. Great condition roof (bit slow). Good interior (some stitching has gone in passenger seat, very comfortable, it is a true sports car with Lotus tuned suspension and Bertone styled body. A real head turner. Almost new Continental 215 low profile tyres that cost over $500. This was meticulously kept in top condition by both myself and previous owner. I bought it for $9000 three years ago and have spent about $5000 on it.
They only imported a few of the Turbo model. Spent thousands on this car, brand new turbo with less than 5km/s on it ($550) brand new alternator with 2km/s on it $260, new sensors, replacement ECU imported from the U.K, timing belt, head off refurb by engineering company, full new head gasket kit, new valve seals, Manta performance sports 3inch stainless steel exhaust that cost $1200 by itself done about 300km/s, new water pump, new fan belt, oil cooler pipes replaced, performance air filter, new oil filter, thermostat, new exhaust manifold gasket, new exhaust gasket, VXR (Vauxhall special performance) tappet cover fitted, wood grain kit imported from the USA. Performance parts from the U.K original Vauxhall. This car has the running gear of the blisteringly fast csi model that is raced in Europe.
Note ebay only has the details for the 2002 model, this is a very late 2003 model purchased only 19 days before January 2004.
I have used all performance modification tips on the European websites including using the larger Vauxhall Vectra air intake. The intercooler has been removed, properly cleaned. New MAF, new MAP costing hundreds as I replaced each and every sensor to eliminate the fault. New water temp sensor, new radiator water container level sensor. Upgraded front lights with tungsten blue bulbs. You name it, I have done it. Colour coded grille and other things that are unique to the Turbo like sports gear knob, different colour instruments, Turbo door sills, Turbo mats (a bit worn now). Looks a million dollars.
This car has every option known to man, great sound system, side and passenger and driver airbags, fully adjustable leather sports seats, perfect air conditioner with freezing air, climate control, electric windows, cruise control etc.
This is an absolute sleeper, it simply screams with power. I have not had it on a rolling road but would expect massive bhp output. No smoke. This is easily the fastest car I have ever owned and the VXR modifications (all legal) has added about 20% more.
It is rego'd until the 21st of October 14, however it is pink slipped for another 6 months so you just have to pay 6 months rego doesn't need inspection.
The bad; This car has an electrical fault. I have tried everything to work out what it is. Basically car runs beautifully, you can take it for a drive. If you put your foot down it pushes you into the back of your seat, but then it loses electrical power as if the alternator is not working. I have changed the alternator twice, new battery, new regulator twice. But I cannot find the fault. It is as if the car is pulling too much power and the alternator can't supply enough to put it back. Once the electrical power goes down, it starts to idle a bit roughly (caused by the electrical issue not the engine). I am not an electrical engineer.
I have spent so much on this lovely car that I cannot put another penny or my time and effort into it so I am going to sell it for a fraction of what it's cost me. Do not expect to use this car without fixing the electrical proble, but if you buy it cheaply, even if you spend a bit at the auto electrician you will end up with a bargain.
This is not a write off it's a very very good example just with this confounding electrical fault. If you are a mechanic or an auto electrical guy you will be able to fix it. It comes with all original books, keys, manual, radio/cd code, etc. It comes with a box of sensors because I replaced things I didn't need to, these often cost up to $100 each. The original alternator is supplied, there is nothing wrong with it. It's fitted with a brand new one.
I have priced the car at $300 more than the exhaust cost me. The spares alone on this car would be worth thousands.
This car runs and drives but I am selling it as above. I will charge the battery and as long as you don't switch on a/c lights etc you may even be able to drive it home. But that is your problem once it leaves here. I strongly recommend you bring a battery pack or bring a trailer as that would help get you home.
I will supply full rego papers, sign them as usual.
This car is a Suttons of Sydney car with all paperwork and books it came with from new. Supplied from their Roseberry branch to the owner Donald Chayce on the 11th of December 2003. It has it's original service book with the last stamp at 105,000km/s. Please check the VIN number online.
This car is sold as described and in the condition I have detailed with all faults.
