Description
UP FOR SALE..RELUCTANTLY. IS MY HR HOLDEN SPECIAL.
I HAVE TO SELL IT AS I HAVE NOW, ABSOLUTELY NO ROOM TO KEEP IT.
PLEASE NOTE:
I DON'T HAVE ANY PAPERS TO THIS CAR BUT AS I CAN MAKE OUT,
THE HISTORY TO THIS CAR IS AS FOLLOWS:
THE CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 1967 BY A REAL ESTATE AGENT FROM CONCORD WEST, WHO USED IT AS HIS PRIVATE CAR .
AT SOME POINT HE PASSED AWAY AND HIS WIDOW DROVE IT FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS TILL SHE PASSED AWAY A LITTLE LATER.
I BELIEVE THIS TO BE AROUND 1991 TO 1992 BECAUSE IT STILL HAS THE LAST REGISTRATION STICKER (MARCH 1992) FIXED TO THE QUARTER WINDOW.
THE HOUSE WAS THEN SOLD OFF WITH THE CAR AND ALL ITS POSSESSIONS AS A DECEASED ESTATE, TO A FAMILY WHO HAD IT UNTIL I BOUGHT IT FROM THEM.
THEY NEVER REGISTERED THE CAR BUT INSTEAD STORED IT UNDERCOVER SINCE 1992 NEVER USING IT, BUT STARTING IT EVERY NOW AND THEN.
ONE COULD SAY THAT IT WAS A BARN FIND, ONLY THAT IT WASN'T FOUND INSIDE A BARN, WHEN I CAME ALONG
AND BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THEM IN 2012, MAKING ME WHAT I BELIEVE, IS THE CAR'S THIRD AND CURRENT OWNER.
THIS WOULD ALSO MAKE THE CAR'S ADDRESS ALWAYS AND SINCE NEW, AT CONCORD WEST, AS I TOO LIVE THERE.
JUST AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR I REPLACED BOTH THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL PUMP.
I HAD THE CARBURETOR OVERHAULED AND FITTED IT WITH A KIT.
I ALSO REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND GAVE THE CAR AN OVERALL SERVICE.
I THEN DECIDED TO REGISTER IT AND TOOK IT FOR A BLUE SLIP INSPECTION.
THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL AND NOTHING HAS BEEN TOUCHED INCLUDING ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION. HE SAID THAT THE 37000 MILES SHOWING ON THE CLOCK, WOULD NOT BE SURPRISING TO HIM THAT THEY ARE THE ONLY MILES THE CAR HAS EVER DONE.
I THOUGHT THE CAR MIGHT HAVE DONE 137000, BUT HE SEEMED ADAMANT THAT THE 37000 MILES ARE CORRECT.
JUST AFTER XMAS 2012, I HAD SPOKEN TO A OLD GENT WHO ONCE KNEW AND WHO WAS A CLOSE BY NEIGHBOR TO THE ORIGINAL OWNER.
I ASKED HIM A LITTLE ABOUT THE CAR AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR WAS RARELY USED AND THAT THE MILEAGE OF 37000 MILES, WOULD BE ABOUT RIGHT.
THIS IS CONFIRMED ONCE YOU HOP IN AND DRIVE THE CAR.
THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE THIS CAR WOULD BE "ORIGINAL"
ITS PERHAPS THE BEST, LOW MILEAGE HR IN THE COUNTRY.. IT IS CERTAINLY THE BEST EXAMPLE OF A GENUINE HR.
IT STARTS FIRST TIME EVERY TIME.
THERE IS NOTHING MECHANICAL DONE TO THIS CAR THAT I CAN TELL.
THERE ARE NO MODIFICATIONS TO THE ENGINE AND THERE ARE NO HOLES DRILLED IN AND OUT OF THE BODY.
THERE IS NOTHING THAT HAS BEEN DONE TO ALTER OR CHANGE THE ORIGINAL BEING OF THE CAR.
IT IS VERY TIGHT MECHANICALLY, DRIVES AND TRACKS LIKE NEW AND THE ENGINE IS SUPER QUIET AND VERY STRONG.
THE TRANSMISSION IS IN GOOD ORDER AND CHANGES AS IT SHOULD.
THE SEATS ARE NOT HEAVILY USED AND ARE VERY SUPPLE AND THE INTERIOR, DOOR TRIMS AND ROOF LINING ARE ALL IN GREAT SHAPE.
THE VINYL WHICH COVERS THE FLOOR IS IN REASONABLE SHAPE FOR ITS AGE.
FRONT AND REAR PARCEL SHELF CONTAIN NO CRAZING OR WEATHERING FROM THE SUN AND THE REAR IS COVERED WITH THE OLD CARPET PIECES WHICH WHERE PUT THERE PROBABLY YEARS AGO, TO PROTECT THEM.
THE ONLY TEAR TO THE INTERIOR IS A SMALL ONE ON THE FRONT PASSENGERS DOOR AS THE PICTURE SHOWS.
THE CAR HAS THE ORIGINAL JACK, BOOT VINYL MAT (ALTHOUGH TORN IN PLACES), NASCO SUN VISOR, LOCKING PETROL CAP, MUDFLAPS AND STEERING LOCK, BUT THERE IS NO KEY TO THE STEERING LOCK.
IT ALSO COMES WITH THE ORIGINAL HOLDEN OWNERS MANUAL AND ORIGINAL NASCO ACCESSORIES BOOKLET.
THE EXTERIOR HAS A FEW BUMPS HERE AND THERE AND THE PAINTWORK SHOWS EXCELLENT FOR ITS AGE.
THE CAR HAS NO MAJOR RUST.THERE IS A LITTLE SURFACE RUST HERE AND THERE, BUT NOTHING SERIOUS FROM WHAT I CAN SEE.
NO REPAIRS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN CUT OUT AND OR WELDED, THAT I CAN SEE.
THE FLOOR INSIDE THE CABIN IS CLEAN AND UNDER THE VINYL, THERE IS WHOLESOME PAINT..NO RUST.
THERE HAS BEEN A REPAIR TO THE BOOT LID BECAUSE THERE WAS A SMALL BUMP THAT WAS PANEL BEATED OUT,
THE PAINTWORK NEEDS TO BE BUFFED.
BOTH BUMPERS HAVE VERY LITTLE SURFACE RUST.
DESPITE THE DOOR RUBBERS BEING RELATIVELY BRITTLE WITH AGE, THIS CAR DOES NOT LEAK.
I HAVE NEVER SEEN A DROP OF WATER INSIDE THE CABIN DURING ANY RAIN.
THE BOOT DOES LEAK FROM SOMEWHERE, BUT IT IS A MINOR ONE AT THAT.
THE CAR HAS A 186 RED MOTOR WITH THE POWERGLIDE TWO SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION.
IT HAS FACTORY DISC BRAKES AND EVERYTHING ON THE CAR WORKS.
IT HAD BEEN ON HISTORIC CLUB PLATES AND IS STILL DRIVEN OCCASIONALLY.
I COULD HAVE DONE THE DETAILING TO THIS CAR AND BUFFED IT AND MADE IT LOOK A MILLION DOLLARS,
BUT EVERYONE HAS TOLD ME TO LEAVE IT AS IS..SO APART FROM A WASH, I DID.
PLEASE SEE THE VIDEO I MADE OF THE CAR.
