Description
You are bidding on a unique survivor car. Built in Australia and assembled in South Africa by GM, this car has the GM sourced Chev 194.4ci six cylinder motor, mated to a three speed column shift manual transmission.
She has had one owner from new and has a genuine 75,000 miles on the clock! She has lived all her life in the hot, dry climate of Johannesburg until being shipped back to her country of birth. This car has never been repainted or restored, how you see her is how she was delivered to her owner, but with 48 years of living. There are some scratches, stone chips and the odd small dent, but you will struggle to find a cleaner, more original HR Special station wagon in Australia. I'm almost certain you won't find another one like this though, with the GM derived changes.
The body is sound with absolutely no structural rust anywhere. There is a small bubble on the drivers door and sill, but easy enough to catch now. The interior is mint, with no tears on the seats or doorcards at all, and 100% original with the exception of the vinyl floor mats. We replaced these with a new set when the car arrived here.
Mechanically she is excellent, having gone through local Rego Inspection without a hitch. We have had the radiator re-cored locally, and fitted a new brake master cylinder for authenticity. We have also just fitted 4 brand new tyres on the original steel wheels with hubcaps.
This is a genuine time warp car and needs to be seen to appreciated. We are prepared to sell with NSW or ACT roadworthy, and she has full ACT Rego till February 2016.
I'm happy to answer any questions and supply more detailed photos if requested.
Successful bidder must collect car, or I am happy to help with inter-state transport at the buyers cost. Payment by bank transfer / deposit only, and payment is required within two days of the auction close.
Happy Bidding!
I reserve the right to end this auction early as the car is advertised on other sites.
