Description
This VH commodore is in good mechanical condition & is sold with 11 MONTHS REGISTRATION. The registration expires on 01⁄07⁄2016. The car is in good mechanical condition. Everything works on the car. Look at the instrument panel photo & you will see the instruments working when the (cold) engine is idling at 500 RPM. Despite the 410,000 genuine kilometers the car goes very well & the eingine uses very little oil. There are no flat spots & no hesitation when tthe car accelerates. The engine is original & has never been stripped, reconditioned or floored. Iridium spark plugs are installed which are good for about 100,000 kilometres & there is still plenty of life left in them.
I am the third owner of the car & have had it since 1993. For several years now this has been my back-up vehicle & has spent most of the time laying idle in the garage. The car spent most of it's life garaged when not in use. The M20 4 speed manual gearbox was reconditioned about 10 years ago & has only done about 50,000 kilometers since then. It is in excellent condition. The rear axle was reconditioned in 1998. It is in good condition . however there is a whine from it.
The car has had parts of the body resprayed over the years & colours have faded. There is also some surface rust appearing in several areas due to the paint becoming thin. Some paint has come off the bonnet. The car needs a re-spray. There is a dent in the rear drivers side quarter & a couple of paint surface scratches in other areas. The car was given a rust preventative coating from new & this has been effective. The body is sound & strong with only a few spot corrosion points. Look at the bottom of the doors in the photos .. no blebs or corrosion.
The tyres are in good condition & have a lot of wear left in them. The wheels fitted are not the original 14" SL wheels. These are 15" commodore alloy wheels. I have a spare 15" wheel .. however .. it does not fit in the spare wheel compartment because the outside diameter of the tyre is too large.
The interior of the car has light brown coloured vynal seats. These have always been covered. The driver's seat is starting to show it's age & the rest of the seats are in very good condition. The driver's seat is still comfortable & shows no sign of sagging.
I have always serviced the car at recommended distances. I have a full service log for the period of time I have owned the car & many reciepts & information on the car. There is also a Gregorys service manual to go with it. A new Century battery was installed early April this year.
The car drives well & has plenty of get up & go if you want to feel the thrill of the V8 motor thrust you forward when you give the throttle a nudge. The exhaust system is a 2 1⁄2" single pipe which gives the engine easy breathing & there is a very pronounced V8 hum when idling & a roar if you accelerate hard.
