Description
10/1984 WB Statesman Deville Series 2. Odometer reads 317,850 km and car is due for next service @ 324,000 km - see mechanic sticker in last photo for more details but all fluids were checked and 'all OK'. Car drives well, motor is strong, transmission shifts as it should and was serviced by a transmission specialist in XX. Starts on either gas or petrol, note it can be temperamental to start on gas more than once without an hour or so between starts so there's a minor issue there to be addressed. Car will not come with registration or a RWC but could be driven to new home on a permit.
WB Statesman Series II production comprised 4,269 DeVilles. So many WB Statesman's have been wrecked over the years as donors for utes and one tonners etc that the numbers of surviving cars must surely now be getting quite low.
This car is an awesome cruiser with heaps of space and comfort. My plan was to put it on club rego to enjoy on weekends however I now need the Stateman's current under cover parking spot for a caravan instead.
Good points:
Blue 308 - fairly sure it's the original motor (engine prefix 11WT30XXXX). Has new belts and a couple of other new bits including near new battery.Trimatic in very good working orderDual fuel (gas tank in date until June 2016)Caprice Alloy wheels (all 5 have centre caps including spare) with 80% tread BF Goodrich g-Grip 225/60/15 rubber all round (great looking rims and tyres)Caprice Grill and nose cone badgeDealer fitted cruise controlFront and rear seats have been retrimmed with little use since (front seats have very good lambswool covers tooWalnut burr style dash faciaEngine bay, interior and boot are all very clean, boot has correct jack and tool for Caprice wheel lugs. Both bumpers, number plate surround, bumperettes etc are in vgc Car very straight, doesn't appear to have had any accidents; and all paint looks original and there are no dented panels or bumpers etc. All lights, indicators and electrics work apart from RH rear electric window, may just be loose wire or motor stuck but I haven't checked it out.Good windscreen
Bad points:
Externally the car has minor rust under passenger rear quarter window, a very small amount at base of rear screen, some minor bubbles behind RH rear wheel arch and again around aerial hole on LH front guard.Needs leaking heater core replaced. Comes with a replacement heater core but I currently have the heater/aircon fan disconnected and the heater bypassed. The paint on the roof, bonnet and nose cone is starting to deteriorate due to the clear coat having worn off over time. The right hand headlight has been leaking water and the large reflector is slightly discolored. It may just need to be taken out and cleaned however I have a spare 'as new' large reflector to go with it in case.
What's needed for a RWC? The obvious things would be some minor rust repairs and heater core replacement so that the heater/aircon can be reconnected. Not sure what else, at a guess some bushes and balljoints but they might be okay for all I know as I'm not a mechanic/RWC inspector. If a RWC is obtained prior to June the gas tank won't need re-testing as I understand they are out of date if they haven't been certified as inspected within the previous ten years.
I can send more photos if interested and have taken many more however I can only upload 12 onto the add, just send me a message.
Inspections are most welcome and definitely preferred, PRIOR, I repeat PRIOR, to auction's end.
Please ask any questions and ensure you're comfortable with buying the car before you hit the 'confirm bid' button.
You Bid to Buy, NOT inspect and tyre kick! No warranty is implied nor is such to be inferred as provided in the sale of this vehicle.
Contact to be made within 24 hours and 10% non-refundable deposit to be paid within 48 hours of auction end or transaction may be cancelled,
