Description

Very sharp Candy Bacchus Green 1973 Honda CB750 K3 motorcycle with only 10,800 miles on the odometer!Beautifully restored both cosmetically & mechanically with completion in early 2012.Limited use ever since and a stunning piece to add to any collection!Act fast!
Honda was clearly dominating the motorcycle marketplace in the 1960's, and was considered the largest distributor worldwide.Their success came from the Honda Cub, Dream, Super Hawk & Sports models. These motorcycles were easy to ride and very dependable making them a premiere choice for riders looking for efficiency and durability.Although Honda was looking for more power, something that would perform at the superbike level. It introduced the CB450 DOHC Twin in 1966 and found it to be incredibly successful! So much so, Honda streamlined its profits into their racing development in the late-1960's and ultimately used their racing knowledge to produce the CB750 in 1969.This revolutionary model encompassed a 736cc SOHC transverse 4-cylinder engine with 5-speed transmission. No other motorcycle on the market would have anything close to offer, especially at a price point under $1,500!It put all other sport bike manufactures on notice, particularly their British born rivals.
The CB750 was a game-changer, and considered today as the very first superbike offered to the public! This was in large part to the features it offered, not just performance. They were all accompanied with an electric starter & kill switch, front disc braking, flashing turn signals, and dual rearview mirrors. And sticking with the Honda traditional of reliability, they also had easily maintained valves for less vibration & a smoother ride at all speeds.Add in the comfortable seating position with excellent instrumentation, as well as performance capable of pushing the CB750 to a 120mph top speed, it would be a tremendous best seller for Honda over the next decade!
Offered here is a beautifully restored 1973 Honda CB750 K3 finished in one-year only color of Candy Bacchus Olive Metallic with black, gold, & white accent stripping. It is powered by its original, numbers correct CB750E engine (#2230213) producing a factory rated 67 horsepower and 44 lb. ft. of torque, and 5-speed transmission. This impressive example has only 10,790 miles showing on the odometer and was restored in 2011/2012 while with its owner in Norwood, Massachusetts. He would purchase this Honda from another enthusiast collector residing in Lowell, MA with 9,053 miles in May 2011.The restoration would commence soon afterward, electing to source much of the parts himself, and subletting the larger tasks to area professionals.
The engine would be disassembled and rebuilt in August 2011 by Adam Aufiero of Phoenix Cycle when he was still based in Quincy, MA with the cylinders bored/line honed .025 over with new Cycle X pistons featuring tin coating and 3-piece sealing rings. This would be reinstalled and fitted with new clutch and throttle cables. The gas tank and side covers would be repainted by Moyer Tanks of Greensburg, PA with new stripe graphics.New Pirelli Sport Demon tires, tubes, and balancing would be installed as well. New rubber components, bronze swing arm bushings, mounting hardware, new Honda seat, new chrome front fender, decals, emblems, etc. were all part of the cosmetic restoration.
Only original Honda OEM parts were sourced to maintain as much originality as possible. It no longer has the original one-to-one exhaust pipes in lieu of a new 4-into-1 system today. The original Honda seat and front fender are included with the sale, along with a new battery installed January 2021.It remains a remarkable example for an ever-growing population of Japanese motorcycle collectors worldwide. These early units remain strong investments and we encourage interested parties to act quickly! Please feel free to arrange a viewing inspection or call with additional questions. Thanks for looking!
