Description

1991 Honda CRX 1.5 HF, RedLocated in Kingston, NY
This '91 Honda CRX has had two previous owners and has been used for regular driving and commuting. It runs well and has been regularly maintained. The radiator and ignition system, including spark plugs, have been replaced with new parts within the past two years. The hydraulic lifts for the rear hatch are new and working well. There is a spare tire in back, and the original tire changing equipment and driver's manual are included.
Because of driving conditions on the East Coast, there is some rusting along the bottom of the car and near the wheels. Rust is also a factor in repairs and maintenance, but the car is currently in good driving condition. It's a great car, but it is getting old enough that parts can be expected to need repair or replacement with some frequency. Here are some known issues:
The parking brake will need to be serviced soon. There are some issues with the seals around the windshield and driver's side window. The rubber is currently reinforced with tape. The front passenger's side turn signal light is loose and is currently reinforced with tape. The rear bumper is jerry-rigged in place. The repair is improvised, but secure. The exhaust system has a break between the resonator and exhaust pipe that is patched with a metal sleeve. The glove compartment is loose.
This is not a mint condition CRX, but it is in good working condition and will serve you well if you're prepared for the maintenance. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find this unique gem of a car, especially on the East Coast. The CRX is great fun to drive—it's simple and tactile, with a very light frame. It's zippy and tight on curves. If you're expecting a zombie apocalypse or a Mad Max meltdown, the CRX continues to be one of the best cars you can own. This is an HF, so it's very good on gas (about 40-45 MPG). I've made it from Upstate NY to Boston on a single tank.
I love this car and I'm letting it go with a great deal of difficulty. Unfortunately, it just requires more regular maintenance than I can realistically manage. This would be a good choice for someone who is interested in a restoration or racing project.
