For sale is a red Honda S2000 from the year 2000. The title is clear, and it has never been in a wreck. We are willing to take it to a local mechanic for inspection at buyer’s expense. Buyer personal inspection is available in downtown Fort Worth before or after sale. Texas inspection and registration are current as of Dec2021. The car is for sale only; we are not interested in a trade.
This is a first series “AP1,” with the 2 liter engine that redlines at 9k RPM.I am going to assume that if you are considering this car, you know the engineering background and why so many critics and owners love it.I purchased it with 35k miles and have maintained it to a high standard since. In addition to regular oil changes with synthetic, the gear oil, rear diff oil and coolant have been flushed and replaced 4 times since I bought it.The valve lift has been adjusted twice and the timing chain checked just because I take care of my cars. Clutch hydraulics were replaced a few years back. The windshield was replaced this Fall, as was the prop shaft, due to aging U-joints. The original firm suspension performs well with very little body roll in corners, but it is probably due for a refresh. The engine starts, idles and revs like the day I got it, and the transmission shifts as smoothly as you would expect if you have driven one. It’s a really fun car to drive!
A few mInor upgrades:
- The OEM radiator had a plastic reservoir on top which cracked, so I replaced it with a Mishimoto all-aluminum racing radiator. See engine picture.
- The OEM convertible top had a plastic back window that aged so I replaced it, 2 years ago, with a Robbins canvas top with a glass back window, which functions perfectly. See pictures.
- The original mirrors suffered fading paint so I replaced them with APR racing mirrors. See pictures.
- Honda recognized that the AP1 wheels were undersized and fitted larger wheels on subsequent models. I replaced the wheels with Enkei PF01s designed for the S2000: 17x8 on the front and 17x9 on the back. These rims maintain the high OEM offset values and therefore fit properly.
ALL known problems:
- The driver's seat is comfortable but shows age and wear. See picture.
- There are some small rock chips in the paint as you would expect, and a very small door ding. See picture.
- The cruise control was not working when I bought it, but I’ve never felt the need to try and fix it. It could be just a fuse; I don’t know.
- There are no other known problems.
This car has performed very reliably for me and presents well, as the pictures show. We believe it is priced very fairly and do not intend to lower the price further.
We’ll respond quickly to any questions. Thanks for looking!
