I am selling my Honda S 2000 simply to upgrade to a later model.
I have owned this for 6 months and I have decided to upgrade to a 2009 GT version with a hard top. However the simple fabric hood still has one of the fastest folding mechanisms in the business, though, and the 2.0-litre VTEC engine thrives on revs however you need to keep it well oiled.
I had the car serviced when bought and 6m later the engine oil is still crystal clear. I also had a new battery and a full geometry setting on both front and rear (Camber, Castor, Toe in and out) as the S2000 can be very sensitive if the geometry is out.I had the chassis checked to make sure it was straight - which it was.The brakes and calipers were also stripped and cleaned.
The car has early Honda service history and my service above was done by Honda.
There is ample tread on the 4 tyres and there is a get you home spare (instead of the ridiculous shaving foam kit)
The car has excellent acceleration and still pulls well in 6th. It sets itself apart from other two seaters in that it can be used just as efficiently as a day to day car as well as a weekend special.
The rifle-bolt action of the six-speed manual gearbox is thrilling; it remains one of the best shifts on any car I have driven. The stubby lever is perfectly positioned, and changing ratios is an absolute delight.
The body work is excellent - I had a few blemishes repaired - but see below
I have not been taken on a track day and to the best of my knowledge the previous owner hadn't.
Now the bad bits - the roof has a small tear - see picture - but despite being left in the appalling weather this week - it does not leak.
Finally - I bought the car as a previously CAT D write-off - I believe in March 2014 - rear bodywork which had obviously been repaired. You can just make out the repair however mechanically it is absolutely sound. It drives extremely well, with no pulling other than due to road camber and stops in a straight line.
In the wet it is a very lively ride and with 236BHP going through the rear wheels and a short travel accelerator and very direct steering, you WILL have fun in the wet if you want to!
A 2007 S2000 with 41k miles will fetch £12-14k - check this out on the various car sites, but I understand that CAT D will put some people off.
The car comes with 2 keys (with immobiliser) and V5C
Happy to give a test drive - the car will be based in Stockport. First to test will buy!
