Description
Listed for sale is a 1947 Hudson Commodore Eight Convertible. 28 years ago I tried to buy a 1947 Hudson coupe, and 22 years ago I tried to buy a 1947 Hudson convertible. Owners at that time did not want to sell. I got the chance to buy both cars a few years ago. And had to buy both of them, to complete one Convertible project. The convertible came out of the Portland OR area, and sitting outside took a toll on the body. The coupe was a nice solid Idaho car. When looking at repairing the convertible body, using the coupe for a donor car. It was clear that less work would be involved to turn the coupe into the convertible, rather than cut up the coupe to repair the convertible. Both cars were torn down, the Commodore Eight frame and suspension were used. The coupe body was mounted on the frame, and modified into the convertible, using the convertibles braces, door tops, windshield frame, door pillars, windows and rear convertible tub. Very easy conversion to do, if you have a complete convertible donor car. This car has all of the correct convertible bracing, in the body, and on the frame. All welds are butt welded, and panel fit is good with nice even gaps. New fuel system, brake system, wiring, tires, cooling system, 700R4 transmission and a 1956 354 Chrysler Hemi. Suspensions are all stock, and rear end is the stock Commodore Eight. I have had a few 46-47 Hudson's over the years, and collected and saved the best parts to put on this convertible project. Sheet metal is straight and solid, nice body, stainless steel trim is in good condition, all chrome is original. Convertible top is complete, needs new front and rear wood bows, have the originals. No parts are needed for this car, also have extra trunk lids, hoods, trim, dash parts, bumpers and other original 46-47 Hudson parts, if a person is interested in the other parts. Original mileage on the car is unknown. I have hundreds of pictures showing the conversion, and I can answer any questions you may have about the car. Fun car to drive around, gets a lot of attention. Please email with any question that you may have. This is a Commodore 8 convertible, repaired using a donor coupe. I also have a 1954 308 Twin-H engine & 3 speed with overdrive transmission, If a person wanted a Hudson engine instead of the Hemi.
