Description
1953 Hudson Hornet - An outstanding original body and interior with a few modern modifications to make it a driver you can enjoy.
Up for sale, one of the more classic automobiles from the 50’s and one that has become extremely difficult to find in recent years. This 1953 Hudson Hornet 4 door sedan is a truly beautiful representation of an era when automobiles were more than just mere modes of transportation. They spoke of who you were as an individual and your success in life.
The Hornet rode on Hudson’s unique “step-down” chassis, which invited passengers to step into its recessed floor pan rather than climb onto a floor level with the chassis rails. This innovative bit of engineering lowered the Hornet’s center of gravity, increasing handling performance.
This “dry", rust-free version features an original interior and a mere 49,000 miles on the odometer. There are a few rust spots in the rocker panels otherwise the car is in very good condition and complete, even down to the rubber on the foot pedals; original and intact! The Hornet's standard original engine was a six cylinder with a two barrel carburetor. I have changed that out and It’s performance is driven by a 350 small block and the car runs and drives very well. During the past 10 years the engine, brakes, wiring, suspension, gas tank, rear end gears, and other maintenance to keep it in good driving condition was addressed and/or repaired by a professional classic car mechanic.
We regularly drive it all over Los Angeles and the compliments are commonplace. This is not a restoration mod nor a completely restored car. With its age and originality comes some expected patina and could still need some TLC. As to the interior, there are no tears including the original headliner, except the front seat as expected given it's age. It’s just a good running and driving original with a few modifications made to make it a dependable driver. Please email for more details. $17,500.
