Description
I'm selling my '67 Scout 800 4x4 with a 4-cylinder 196 engine and 3-speed manual. It is currently registered, has aclean title and 45,500 miles. It's been a California truck it's whole life, and as a result is very rust-free.
A lot of effort has been put into keeping it original mechanically. Unmolested Scouts are getting harder and harder to find as a lot of people jack 'em up or drop in different motors. This one has a stock look and is complete with the rear seat as well as the removable hardtop, which is a a rarity. I also have a newer aftermarket soft top for it. All the locks work including the rear hatch on the hardtop and are keyed alike with the ignition. The tires are nice vintage style off-road and arealmost new.
The truck fires right up and drives with no problems. I start it and drive it until it's warm almost every day. The engine is the original four-banger and runs great. The 4-wheel drive engages fine and locking hubs both work. The radiator and cooling system works well - no overheating. The heater blows nice and hot, the dash lights work, even the original cigarette lighter still works.
There is a ding on thefront drivers side corner and some surface rust on the inside roof of the hardtop. There are a few minor issues:
- the brake lights recently stopped working but the tail lights and blinkers work and thebrake pedal switch is new so it's probably a wiring issue
- the passenger side fuel tank always reads "full", so it likely needs a new sender unit
- one of the windshield wiper motors is seized - a common problem for these old vacuum wipers
- the windows roll down fine, but require some help to get them back up
- the weather stripping on the doors needs to be replaced
I've owned the truck for about 3-1/2 years, and I bought it from the family of the original owner who lived out in the California desert. The paint and upholstery are not original - they were done by the previous owner. The floors in the front have also been coated. As far as Ican tell all the body and floor panels are original and it has not been wrecked. It's a great truck and has been lots of fun to own. I really hate to part with it - I love this Scout but there's just no room for it right now.
The buyer is responsible for all shipping costs, but I will help out wherever I can to make sure it gets where it needs to go safe and sound.
Don't miss out on this opportunity! Thanks for looking.
