Description
What you have here is a running and driving E Type project. I have done the basics, cleaned the tank, carbs made it run well. It has the shorter rear gears and the car is very fast, super great sound! It has triple SU's and a big valve head. Not much to do mechanically, pinion housing drips oil, and some lights are not working (Lucas, of course) The car has upgraded cooling and triple SU carbsruns very good, lumpy cams sound great at idle.
There is a lot of unfinished work on the car, for example the seats have new covers but the headrests were not done. The biggest issue the car has is the rear wheel openings are bodged up from the previous owner trying to fit larger wheels and tires. (See photos) The patch panels are available and inexpensive and a prefect repair can be done for $1,000 to $1500. The engine in not the original one, so it is not numbers matching. There is evidence or previous rust repairs, for example the at least one floor panel is not original. There is some rust on the bonnet near the hinges and there may be more rust hidden under the paint. The car is not a rust bucket, but you should expect to do some metal work before the paint job on this car.The chrome looks pretty good but since the car needs paint you are going to want to do the chrome too. The paint is very checked and will need to be stripped in many places for a good result.
I removed the huge tires and fitted stock size rubber on Dunlop style disk wheels, they look great, I have the faux knock off caps for the wheels around. (Not cheap)
Sorry about the tiny pictures but I am not home, I will try to get better pictures of the engine and interior but these shots reveal the important things to consider before buying it.
This is a one time auction, if it doesnt sell I will finish it and double my money. Or you could buy it and do that yourself. OR I will finish it for you for a fixed price.
This is a no reserve auction so bid to win!
