Hi everyone,
Up for auction is my rare 1958 Jaguar Mk1 manual 4 speed 2.4lt straight 6 cylinder engine.
A very valuable vehicle in need of some TLC.
It is a very solid car. It runs & drives, starts & stops. The Solex twin carburettors need tuning & leak fuel. It has also puffs black smoke at idle & has some flat spots/miss in the throttle. It has been sitting since 2005 in dry storage. It doesn't seem to have any obvious oil leaks, but will need a full service & adjustments. The clutch pedal/clutch also needs adjustment but it changes gears fine. It selects all gears including reverse. The brakes stop the car. The headlights work, but the rear taillights don't currently. The wipers seem ok. Indicators work but the rear flashes with the brake light (crossed wire?). The tyres need replacing, as they are very old but hold air. The spare is the original & unused.
The body is very solid for a vintage original vehicle. Has rust on the bootlid under the number plate bracket & some paint cracking/ lifting on the left of the front guard. There is also some rust on the front right door down low. Apart from that, the floors are solid, & the rest of the car has pretty excellent paint & no hidden nasties. There is a few paint imperfections on the front guards, but still great for a 50s vehicle. The front bumper will need re-chroming as it's peeling & covered by chrome sticker patches. The rest of the chrome is good/ usable.
The interior is simply stunning for an original car. The leather is red & plush. The rear seat is also fantastic. The springs in the seats are solid. Lots of wood on the doors etc. Some wood water damage on the drivers door near the quarter window. Fitted with front racing harnesses & rear seat belts.
The car is located in Millers Forest (in between Maitland/Raymond Terrace area) 20mins from Newcastle & 5 mins from the M1 Motorway.
