Description

This is THE Mark 2 Jaguar to put your time and effort into restoring. Great candidate for a concours build, Coombs racing saloon, or a Vicarage style upgrade. Early 1961 model with all matching numbers and with a confirming Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate. Very rare steel sunroof version with a manufacturing estimate of 500 built offline in the factory and believe only 10 or so may still exist in the World. Largest available 3.8 litre engine with 4 speed manual gearbox and overdrive plus wire wheels. Shall require a full restoration but most parts and panels are readily available globally from several quality Jaguar Mk 2 parts suppliers. Corrosion on the underside is not typical of many Mk 2 Jaguars and main structural areas appear solid. Within the capabilities of an individual or a professional restorer and further photographs can be supplied upon request. Left hand drive and these lend themselves to changing relatively easily to right hand drive. Engine does not run but everything is present including the twin SU carburetors. Understood the car was purchased new through Jaguar Cars of New York Home Delivery Service in 1961 by a US Diplomat who drove in and around London for a couple of years before exporting to the US. Purchased to restore but current owner has since bought a similar 1965 3.8 litre Mk 2 driver. Located in Houston, Texas with convenient and cost effective shipping overseas possible.
