Description
1960 Jaguar MK2
Here is a beautiful 1960 Jaguar MK2 Saloon car with right hand drive originally from New Zealand. The car was purchased in the Boston area late in 2011 and brought up to Canada. A beautiful car that still manages to turn heads and receives many comments when out driving around. An older classic that you would be proud to call your own. The car is very fun to drive and it gets more looks driving down the road then you could imagine. Everyone wants to talk to you about this car. The odometer shows 41,742 on it now and had 36,800 when we purchased it. I would like to say they are original miles but may have rolled over once. Under the hood is clean and dry and the undercarriage, floor pans and rockers show no rust at all. There is some surface blistering in a couple spots on the body and as you can see by the photos each door has a small patch of rust that should be repaired.
The car has had some mechanical work done such as new brake hoses, new horn, new ball joints, new bushings, new stainless steel exhaust, new battery, gas tank flushed and relined, radiator thermo fitted and much more. Copies of original documents and all receipts are available.
The interior is in very good condition for the vintage of the vehicle. The rich leather seats are comfortable and afford lots of room. The carpets are in decent condition. It has all the real wood grain trim on the dash and at the top of the door panels. While your passengers are relaxing and enjoying the ride in the rear seat they can utilize the beautiful fold down wood tray tables in the back of the front seat ahead of them. The glass is all intact and crack free. At some point you will want to replace the tires. The are the original Dunlops from New Zealand and I have left them on for nostalgia. They have lots of tread but are getting old. There is a lot of chrome on this car and looks nice when polished up. The vehicle has a huge trunk as well as a factory installed trailer hitch which is pretty rare. With all this luxury no wonder some of these old classics have been turned into limos.
The car starts and runs well. As a matter of fact we have taken it on several extended road trips in North America. I must say the ride is very comfortable compared to some other British cars we have owned. The smoothness of the 3.4L engine is a delight to hear purring down the roadway. The big cat hood ornament is a sign of style and pride as you enjoy a summer evening drive or a road trip for that special vacation. This is a one of a kind car that will make a nice addition to your automotive stable. This is a very cool car and one that with a little TLC would be a show stopper.
Seller has a professional appraisal for $20,000.00. The reserve price really is a steal, don't wait and be disappointed.
