JAGUAR S-Type 1965 - 3.8ltr Auto ***GREAT CLUB CAR***
"The looks & the sound of the 60's" with a bargain price!
This beautiful Jaguar S-Type 3.8ltr fitted with the Automatic gearbox, is in very good condition inside and out. However, the purchase of my dream car forces me to sadly put this beauty up for sale. I will list as best I can what has been completed & what still needs finishing. My original price before was $12,000, to compensate all my original expenses, but now sad to say, I am selling it for bargain!!!
The S-Type is the follow on model of the famous Mk2, with all the great looks of the Mk2 including the leaping Jaguar on the bonnet. The S-Type was fitted with the now famous independent rear end, which makes the vehicle drive very different to the earlier Mk2's with their live rear ends.
I will list the GOOD & then the BAD (there is certainly NO UGLY)
The GOOD (Work completed)
Engineis the original 3.8ltr & 2years ago runs beautifully. It starts on thepush of the button & has an electirc choke overide switch, but now, sinceboth the fuel pump are not working, so the engine is not running anymore,for quite sometime. And the transmission oil is start dripping.420front end fitted including update brakes. The 3 pot Girling brakes thatare fitted to the 420's are very sought after by all Mk2 owners as a muchbetter upgrade to the original Dunlop brakes. The Dunlops were agreat brake but very expensive to repair as the calliper itself had to bere-sleeved whereas the Girling calliper had pistons that could be replacedindividually. The seats, door trims, carpets & roof lining have all beenreplaced. The seats have been retrimmed in the original ambler availableat the time. Theengine bay is very original & you can see from the photos howoriginal it is. Allfluids and filters have been changed. Radiatorserviced and tested. Allnew hoses fitted or supplied with car. Tyresare good. The Work needs to be done.
Thedash & top needs to be relaminated & polished. See photo of dash. Istarted sanding the rusty and bubble parts and painted it with POR 15 rustpreventive and other anti-rust. I was intending to have the car to be resprayedbut no more budget. I will leave for new owner to complete the work,painted it according to their standard. There are chips and a number oftouch ups have been attempted. Otherwise body is straight and clean. Somebody trim needs replacing, I did not fit due to pending respray. Fittedwith twin tanks, and pumps. Recently, the two fuel pump are not working. Bootneeds to be re-trimmed. Revcounter needs connecting. In summary this is a great looking vehicle & is a great opportunity for restoration, someone to finish fitting the vehicle up to their standards. Would make an excellent "Club Car" for someone & would qualify for clup rego being over 30 years old. This means that you can register it thru your club for only $55.00 per year including the Green slip (NSW prices - dont know the interstate prices & regulations)'
Spare generator, water pump, fan belt, lights, brake components, literature, wiring diagram and service and workshop manuals on disk.
I am told that this age car did not have a VIN, however the "Car Number" as per the compliance plate fixed to the fire wall is : P1B54835BW
