Produced in March 1999 at Jaguar’s factory in Coventry, England, this car is finished in Medeira Maroon (code CGH). The paint and trim are in overall good condition and as a Vanden Plas model, is it differentiated from the other trims by its fluted radiator grille surround and fluted boot-lid plinth. The body is straight and solid, the engine bay is extremely tidy and the trunk’s cargo area looks great. The body-colored bumpers fit tightly to the body and look good.
This cat rolls on Mastercraft MC-440 radials, size 225/60R16, each one mounted on a factory alloy wheel. The wheels are in excellent shape while the tires are in very good condition. This car uses a “touring” set-up that is softer and more compliant.
Under that forward-hinged and counterbalanced hood is a 4.0L DOHC, 32-valve V-8 engine (code AJ27-V8) with Bosch direct fuel injection and two-state variable valve timing. Other features include fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods, a special one-piece cast camshaft and reinforced plastic intake manifold. The motor is mated to ZF five-speed automatic transmission (code ZF 5HP24) with a 3.06:1 rear end. Driver convenience features include automatic climate control, ZF Servotronic power rack-and-pinion steering, power four-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, power windows, power locks, power sideview mirrors and 12-way power front seats. Additional goodies include a sunroof and a six-compact disc changer mounted in the trunk.
Safety equipment include dual front airbags, foglights, anti-lock brakes, traction control and rear parking sensors.
Inside, the car has a Cashmere interior (code SDZ). The front and rear seats, swathed in Connolly leather, including the rear center fold-down armrest, are in overall very good order, while the matching Wilton wool carpet is in similar shape. The headliner is in good shape while the instrument panel and inner door panels are all in better-than-average condition. Parts not festooned in leather are covered in burled walnut panels for warmth. The center console, door panels and dash are perfect examples. The shift lever has its famous “J” gate pattern and a factory AM/FM stereo with a cassette deck and a six CD changer mounted in the trunk complete the interior.
