Description
If it weren't for a gremlin in the electrical system, this gem would be about 90% done. The good news first: 63K actual miles, new motor and radiator, overhauled transmission, new walnut veneers inside, new front leather and front carpets. Upgraded sound with MP3 player; sunroof, 72-spoke Dayton wire wheels with Jaguar badges, never wrecked, body & paint in good shape. It does have a salvage title - partially flooded in '05 but restored and re-registered fifteen years ago. I've owned it for ten and it's been my beloved daily driver. But - about two years ago the transmission started shifting rough out of first. Gradually it became rougher until the trans would go into "limp home" and lock out first and fourth - until you warmed up the car and restarted. The problem has gradually gotten worse until you generally have a two-speed trans. The problem goes with this model of ZF transmission, but no one can find a specific problem or solution. Either you have to trace and restore the wiring system, or try installing another new motor and trans and hope that improves the connections. I give up. I'm selling her as a project car. Aside from the electricals, she'll need between $500-1000 in tightening up the front end. Price for you to haul home from Hot Springs is $2500. I have a new motor & trans unit available for the $500 it will cost me.
