Description

1976 AMC Jeep CJ-5. Complete nut and bolt restoration and rebuild with improvement modifications throughout. Built to drive on roads and highways as well as off-road. Entirely rust-free and built right. Original frame and body. Every part of this Jeep has been rebuilt or restored or is new. almost everything has been painted, coated or powder-coated. Body has been Herculinered and epoxy-painted except for the hood, which is rough-texture painted. Underneath has all been painted, undercoated or powder-coated. Custom gauge panel and gauges(Autometer Pro, white-face). Steering column has been completely re-built to make this Jeep drive and track really well on the hard-roads."Bullet-proof", built Turbo 350 w/ hardened input-shaft,( 3-speed automatic trans. )with a very expensive Lokar shifter, custom-made for this Jeep ( the mounting-plates & scaffolding) I did not like the B&M ratchet race-shifter w/ lock-out that was in it before. Recaro, high-back, racing seats w/ full Sparco racing safety harnesses. Small, racing steering wheel w/ tilt. Big, solid 3" roll-bar, also Herculinered/painted (bolted on so it can be taken off, if necessary). Completely rebuilt (for performance & reliability) 1978 Chevy, 4 bolt main, 350, bored out to a 355 c.i. small-block. Many performance mods, but runs cool; crawling in first gear or cruising down the hwy. at 65mph. Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front with G2 differentials and super-durable axles, w/ WARN locking hubs. Two sets of gears for front and rear; 3:73 & 4:56. Right now there are 3:73's in rear and 4:56' s in front because Jeep has only been driven on the road for the last 4 years and I have not had to use 4wd. It is usually ok to have the different gears if you are really stuck in mud or sand, just to get un-stuck, but that's it. The gears need to match if you are going to use 4wd. This Jeep has about a total of 12" lift, body and frame and has 11 shocks, which make it a dream to drive on roads or highways. I have driven other people's new 4-door Jeeps with lifts and suspension mods that don't drive or ride as good as this one. Because it is a short wheel-base CJ5, you do feel the bumps on hard trails or pavement, obviously, but it is impressive! ProComp shocks, wheels & tires. 17x37x12.50 tires on 17x11 wheels with 2" aircraft aluminum spacers. Up-graded Sylvania headlights, Hela off-road lights(halogen) and custom, superbright, led lights on windshield hinges. Pro-series Superwinch(10,500lbs.) , custom battery tray w/ Optima battery (red-top).Heat -Wrapped Hedman long-tube headers w/ 3'' coated exhaust all the way back. Very deep and pretty loud exhaust note ( flowmaster mufflers)! Proform, high-torque, Hi-PO starter, TFAL/OPL, HI-PO, aluminum radiator, Edelbrock, 650 c.f.m. double-pumper carb.. Electric fans, Holley, Hi-PO electric fuel pump. This Jeep is better in many ways, than a new one, and definitely better than when it was brand new in 1976. It is legit! Good for sand, mud and light rock-crawling, and has a pretty good suspension travel. Clean, clear Fl. title in hand.
