Description
1979 Jeep CJ7 which has undergone a complete restoration.Less than 2000 miles on the vehicle since restoration.
Engine:New 350 Crate Engine with Edelbrock 650 carburetor (no EFI here as you get the real feel of 70s muscle), Edelbrock intake, and headers. The engine makes 275 hp.
Transmission: T176 four-speed medium duty Jeep transmission. The transmission was professionally rebuilt. It has a Centerforce clutch that gives excellent clutch pedal action. All clutch linkage was replaced during restoration.
Transfer Case: Dana 300 Jeep transfer case.
Axles: Stock Dana 30 in the front and AMC Model 20 rear axle. The rear axle has one piece aftermarket rear axles. It also has an ARB air locker in the rear that is not hooked up. I originally had planned to do light off roading during the restoration, but the Jeep came turned out too nice to take off road. Since restoration the Jeep has not been driven in the rain or even on a dirt road in concert with the fact it has been garage kept. The ARB would only need a compressor and plumbing to make functional. The front axle has hubs that work excellent. The 4 wheel drive works great and shifts into 2H, 4H, and 4L with ease. The axles have 3.55 ratio gears, which are a perfectly paired with the new 350 engine for driving around “showing off” on sunny days as well as medium length trips.
Frame: The frame is all original. No frame repair has been done. The frame was sanded and painted flat black at time of restoration. There is no rust or rot on the frame.Suspension/steering:4 inch Rancho lift springs, Rough Country shocks, and heavy duty 1 inch lift shackles. The Jeep also has a 1 inch Daystar polyethylene bushing lift.Additionally, power steering was added during the restoration as well as new pump, gearbox, and hosing. The gearbox is off a Jeep J20 pickup truck which uses a constant ratio gearbox and makes the Jeep a pleasure to drive.
Wheels: Custom made by Stockton Wheels, 15 x 10 inch 32 bolt bead-locks.These are real bead-locks powder coated satin black with the lock ring chromed. These were custom ordered at a cost of $300+ each.Tires are 35 inch Goodyear Wranglers with a matching spare.
Body:The body is completely rust free including original CJ fenders, hood, grille, and tailgate. The windshield frame is a new reproduction frame. The paint and body work was done by a professional body shop. The interior of the tub finished to the same high quality as the exterior of the body.
Interior:This CJ has a simple utilitarian look of the stock Jeep CJ.This CJ originally was a “Levi’s” edition but now has brand new Rugged Ridge black vinyl low back front seats and new rear seat to match. I put a Levi’s sticker on the CJ to honor its heritage. I decided not to carpet the Jeep. As mentioned above, the interior body work was intentionally done to high standards so that I could not use carpet. No bedliner to hide rust on this Jeep! The Jeep has a CD player mounted in the glove box: it keeps it out of the weather and maintains a stock look to the dash.
The top is a like new black denim Besttop Supertop with new windows and hardware. The Jeep has been garaged since the restoration, so I never basically never use the hard doors. The rear tire carrier is a heavy duty Warn unit that mounts to the frame. This allows the heavy 35 inch tire and wheel to mount without difficulty.
The CJ7 has Flowmaster series 40 mufflers and sounds great. Also, it has catalytic converters and at one point I had the carb tuned so perfectly it passed emissions but a couple of years back I decided to switch to an Antique license plate registration, so I didn’t have to continually bother with the fine tuning.
Last but not least, the CJ has been completely rewired with a Painless wiring harness. The rear lights are military Humvee lights painted black which provides a cool and unique look.
Please use the “contact seller” option if you have any questions and I will be happy to assist as well as exchange phone numbers to talk live if needed. The vehicle is really nice and I hate to let it go but I am moving across the country and plan to purchase a RAZR for off roading in the desert. I would rather sell my fully restored CJ which has NEVER been off-road vs. use it in the heat, dust, rocks and dirt in the desert!!!
Thanks for looking and MAKE it a GREAT DAY!
