Nationally Recognized Custom 2008 CRD Grand Cherokee Overland

AKA Black Bear or Big Red, this "one-of-a-kind" rig is an off-road enthusiast’s dream come true. But it is an excellent daily driver as well. This rig can do it all…and has done it all.

This is a one-owner, fully customized 2008 Grand Cherokee Overland that now has just over 81,000 miles. The Carfax is clean and shows no accidents, no damage, 1-owner, and 28 service records. It had the following options on delivery by the dealership--

3.0 L v6 turbo diesel engine
DVD video entertainment center
Navigation system

As an Overland it also has heated leather seats, Quadra-Drive II with Electronic Limited Slip differentials front and rear, and Park Sense. It has never been smoked in and has been meticulously maintained throughout its life by the local Jeep dealership and local 4x4 center. In its early years this Grand Cherokee became the project vehicle of 4xGuard, LLC, and it was featured in the August 2011 Four Wheeler article titled, A Grand Ride for the Great Divide. Though a daily driver it has successfully done almost all major trails in Moab and it completed the 38th Rubicon Jeep Jamboree run in 2016 (seeAnd it still has a tight body, rides great, and handles perfectly on the highway.
The vehicle is in top mechanical condition throughout and all maintenance records are included. Other than routine maintenance, recent service includes—
Transfer case rebuilt, upper and lower control arms serviced at 67,000 miles
Brakes replaced at 78,000 miles
Fuel filter/water separator replaced at 80,000 miles
Extra parts include a new front driveshaft (still boxed), used extra front steering mechanism and rear driveshaft, extra rear lower control arms and Bilstein shocks, and miscellaneous 4XGuard accessories.
The exterior has a few small scratches (photos provided on request) and minor "brush" scratches at several locations along the sides. The interior shows only normal use in the passenger compartment as well as the rear cargo area. The leather seats are in excellent condition--no sagging!. Decals shown (4xGuard Black Bear on hood) will be removed at the buyer’s request.
The following are discussions of major modifications and custom features:

Diesel engine. We have had fantastic luck with the CRD. It has tons of torque, has proven to be reliable, and it delivers very good fuel mileage despite the lift and large tires. The engine has a performance module by Green Diesel Engineering, which greatly reduced turbo lag, increased engine response, and includes an OBM reader.
Quadra-drive II (stock), with ElectronicLimited Slip Differentials. What can I say but a fantastic system. It performs extremely wellin snow/ice and off-road situations, and it has been trouble-free. Alongwith the 6-speed transmission with manual override, this is the mostversatile and capable system I have ever experienced.
Front custom suspension. 5-inch front suspension by Superlift, Fox and Jeepin by Al,. The basic lift is a 4-inch Superlift. However an adjustable front coiloversetup by Fox has been added as well as Jeepin-by-Al’s Upper scontrol arms withreplaceable ball joints. This custom setup provides outstanding offroad ANDonroad performance, ride and handling. (Photo may suggest a leaking frontshock which is NOT the case but due to my using a spray lubricant for aninfrequent squeak when the coil rubs the inside shock). Rear custom suspension. 4-inch rear suspension by BDS. The rear BDS track arms do not require thelow-hanging mounting bracket (a significant hang up problem) that the Superliftkit requires. Shocks currently areBDS but Bilstein remote reservoir shocks are included as possible replacements. These shocks were both specificallyvalved for this vehicle’s overall setup. They look great, and as mentioned provides fantastic ride andhandling. Custom air system. This unique and functional systemincludes a hidden Viair pump plus gauge and air line, and an air storagetank located inside the spare tire. Electronic Stability Programcorrection by American Expedition Vehicles/Superlift. The addition of a lift kit and oversizedtires causes premature engagement of Electronic Stability Program that isstandard equipment on the WK. The effected portions of ESP can betemporarily immobilized by engaging the button on these vehicles, but thatobviously results in a less than complete ESP and thus a reduction in thevehicles capability to overcome potentially unsafe driving situations. Inpartnership with Superlift, American Expedition Vehicles developed the EGRmodule that eliminates most of the premature engagements and maintains allthe OEM functions of ESP. Engine monitoring. Rig has a Bully Dog performance monitorthat provides graphical data on a variety of engine functions, including turbo boost. All terrain tires, size 315 x 70 x 17 (35 inch),by Goodrich. The ride andhandling are nothing short of fantastic, and the road noise is minimal. They are relatively new and tread wearis very good. Method Racing wheels. These almost new and great lookingaluminum wheels have a striking appearance since they are partly polishedand partly “brushed”. They arein exceptional condition except for a few scratches along the outside(bead area) rim of one of the 4. (photos provided on request) Superlift Super Ring. Thisaccessory provides a custom look to the rear differential as well asoff-road protection. 4xGuard Accessories. To enhance the vehicles looks andoff-road performance the vehicle has the following 4xGuard armour accessories: FrontGuard HC, Belly Guard HC, Rear Guard HC, Side Guard HC, Rear Sliders, and “Matrix-HC”. Tail Light Guards by Aries Offroad. We added these light guards as we likethe look and the fact that the Aries versions on better contoured to fitthe vehicle than those by other manufactures. Off-road Lighting by PIAA. What can I say but PIAA is the best. Theyare wired such that while in the "on" position they will onlyactually illuminate when I turn on the high beams and turn off when thelow beams are activated due to on coming traffic. Legal and very useful. Flat towing. The vehicle has lighting functions andattachment for a Blue-Ox towbar. Winch. The Matrix by 4XGuard has an integrated receiverfor a portable winch setup. Howeverthe winch and winch wiring are not included in the sale.
Though this one-of-a-kind custom Grand Cherokee has seen off-road use, it has by no means been abused (like jumping the vehicle, careless or abusive negotiation of trail obstacles, speeding, etc.).
