Description

Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentlemen, internationally recognized as a leading buyer, restorer and seller of low mile, excellent condition Grand Wagoneers, presents this 63,300 low actual mile 1991 Final Edition.
You are invited to "Reserve this Final Edition Now" as our in production pieces under restoration are all presold well in advance of completion. We are a modest in size operation, completing under 40 Grand Wagoneer restorations per year. Because of Classic Gentleman's limited capacity, we continue to completely sell out of our entire production year in and year out and are appreciative to our loyal clients and patrons!…. Estimated ready date for this 1991 Final Edition is the first quarter of 2022.
Carfax confirms the first 55,xxx + miles of her life were all in the deepest south state of Louisiana, far from snow and winter road salt. Her last >8,xxx miles were all as a summer ride in New England and as such, her frame and undercarriage are solid. The average use of this Wagoneer works out to an incredible 2000 miles per year.
Each time we introduce a 1991 Grand Wagoneer the description highlights the limited number that were produced in that final year. Only a few thousand were made as the Chrysler Corporation bid a fond farewell to one of America's most iconic vehicles. The lowest model year production figures over Grand Wagoneer's history. But the more important number is how many still survive and are worthy of restoration. Conservative estimates would assume that half the original number are no longer viable candidates – rusted away or driven to their mechanical limits or used as snow plows- you get the idea- many have gone to the Wagoneer graveyard, never to be resurrected. In a population of 330 million Americans, plus possible foreign buyers, owning a '91 Final Edition Wagoneer has odds like winning the lottery. Especially a low-mile example like this one.
The Dark Silver Metallic paint was this Grands original factory color. She was looked after diligently by her enthusiast past owner and when not in use, was always kept garaged and under cover. Still, we are treating her to a complete repaint in her original Dark Silver Metallic finish. The wood siding will likewise be replaced to bring her up to Classic Gentleman standard. The new wood siding is being fitted inside the original factory wood trim.Yes the original factory wood trim is still in place and remains in very good to excellent condition. We always elect to keep the original factory trim, when possible and exterior wood trim like this is also a further testament of the true low miles and excellent care. The wheels will be professionally refinished and wrapped with fresh whitewall tires and a new windshield will be fitted. The remaining exterior chrome and aluminum bits, such as the bumpers, front grill, door handles, luggage rack and so on, whilst not new, (because they are no longer being reproduced and can't be purchased new), only exhibit low mile usage and as such, still present nicely and remain in very good condition.
The interior seating for this Final Edition is getting the first class treatment. Our local Amish craftsman will replace all the original and now aged factory leather and vinyl with all new leather, along with replacing the factory fabric seat inserts with new fabric. Back in the day, Jeep didn't even use real leather on the sides of the seats, just the front of the them. We will be replacing all the original leather and vinyl with new leather. It is expensive and time consuming to do but just one of the ways that a Classic Gentleman restoration stands out. The original factory cordovan carpeting is left in place on the seat backs and bottoms, firstly because the carpet receives no wear there but as importantly, there is nothing cooler in these Wagoneers than that vintage shag carpet that nobody produces anymore.
We will be installing new carpeting across the floors in both the cabin and cargo areas along with the sides of the cargo compartment and inner tailgate. New cargo boards will be used underneath the carpet and new kick panels put in place. New custom floor mats will also be included to protect the fresh carpet. We also will recoat the dashboard and steering wheel to freshen them cosmetically. The cordovan color interior works its very best magic against a silver or grey exterior color and that rings as true as ever with this most handsome example.
The working interior appointments include power seats, power windows, power door locks, power mirrors and wonder of all wonders, the original factory AM/FM stereo is still banging out the tunes wonderfully. The air conditioning of course is fully serviced and updated to R134.
At Grand Wagoneer by Classic Gentleman, we often spend more time and monies looking after the mechanical and electrical needs of these Grands than all the cosmetic stuff you see on the outside wrapper. Our restoration works include the addition of MODERN FUEL INJECTION being fitted to this Final Edition, leaving the old carburetor on the shop floor. The fuel injection upgrade alone changes out many of the original factory parts including the throttle body mounting plate, electronic fuel pump, inline fuel filter and hoses, engine harness with OBDII data connector, oxygen sensor, electronic ignition module, electronic speed sensor, ignition wire set, distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs and chrome ignition coil.
For this Grand we are additionally replacing both the front and rear leaf springs, replacing all 4 shocks, the muffler and exhaust pipe, battery, alternator, starter, neutral safety switch, upgrade the headlamps to Hella 9003 halogen bulbs, review all the braking components and on and on. The four wheel drive (High & Low setting) is likewise fully serviced and ready for any weather.
Why buy from a Grand Wagoneer specialist? Our entire focus is on Grand Wagoneers and we know these unique vehicles inside and out. When you purchase a Classic Gentleman Wagoneer it has been thoroughly inspected and works completed by professional mechanics, some with over forty years of Wagaoneer experience. We purchase fine example Jeeps from a variety of sources including other dealers and private parties. We are often told by the seller, “My Jeep is excellent and needs nothing” however, being in this profession, we know to expect and plan for a great deal of sorting. Remember the average age of these vehicles is over thirty years old and even with loving care many the cosmetics and mechanical parts have aged and worn accordingly. When a Classic Gentleman Grand Wagoneer arrives at your home, it is a special occasion and the Grand will be in beautiful condition. Yes, our sales are as-is, but as you will see from our detailed document files that your Grand has been looked after carefully. Our goal is to see that the joy and enthusiasm of Grand Wagoneer ownership begins immediately with your purchase and that it will be there for years to come.
Still, and here is the most honest paragraph you have perhaps ever seen from a restoration house/dealer, in some ways these Jeeps were terrible even when they were new. Sometimes we wonder if automotive engineering was more of a hobby with Jeep executives. For example, a Grand Wagoneer was the very last vehicle produced in America still fitted with a carburetor. The factory installing an ancient artifact like a carburetor to these Grands is a perfect example of Wagoneers being more primitive than other vehicles of the same model years. Now we automatically upgrade and modernize each of our Grands with MODERN FUEL INJECTION, eliminating the troublesome carburetor and therefore also eliminating the next owner having to constantly hector his local Jeep service advisor to adjust the carburetor. But, in most every other way, we can't change the method these were built by the factory. In many respects the manufacturer used outdated technology and manufacturing methods and as a restorer, we will always be compromised by that circumstance. Did you know you can remove the front grill from a final year 1991 Grand Wagoneer and behind it still see the round cut out holes for the 1963 Jeep Wagoneer headlights? Those are just two examples above to illuminate the discussion. Therefore, please understand you will do more maintenance and servicing of a vintage Grand Wagoneer than a modern piece, even one we have restored. That is just a truth, fellow enthusiast. If you don't have the un-excitability and tolerance for that, then let us say to you candidly, don't buy one. But let us also remind you that it is indeed that old school style and looks of a Grand Wagoneer that have made them so ever popular today.
