Description
Hi,
Land Rover Series 3 Hardtop - 109"
Formerly, NSW registered.
Late model Series 3 - 1979.
Re-powered from a 4 cylinder to Holden 186 by a previous owner.
Engine runs very well. It is very smooth and starts easily, although it could do with a new rocker cover gasket. The engine has extractors fitted and the exhaust gives a nice tone. It doesn't blow any smoke.
Vehicle drives very well, all gears work, including low range.
Free wheeling hubs fitted, that work well.
Small amount of rust in chassis, easily repaired.
Bulkhead will require at least one replacement foot well and other patch repairs.
Overall, the Landie is in pretty good condition and would be a cheap and easy restoration. I thought that a recommission / tidy up was all that was really needed to make a nice classic 4x4.
The great condition of the rear tray area demonstrates that the car hasn't been too badly abused in the past.
Where the paint shows a lighter milky colour, I think this would buff out to match the rest of the car.
I initially bought the car some time ago as a parts car, but decided it was too good to break up for parts. I replaced a gasket in the fuel pump and she fired right up. I've since been driving around our property in her (great fun).
Too many projects, so I'll move this one on to someone who can giver it the love she deserves.
The clutch works (well), but there are no foot brakes. The master cylinder (twin system) reservoir bottle is in great condition (age and sun makes them brittle), so I anticipate that a brake rebuild would be quite easy and cheap. The hand brake works well.
I have (will) remove the 16 gallon fuel tank, so on pick up, this will not be in the car.
One window top came with the car, it is rusted and is included.
I've set a low reserve so grab a quickly appreciating classic - they're getting hard to find!
Pickup is easy (probably drive it onto your trailer) from North Western Sydney.
Car is sold as is, where is with all faults expected from a 42 year old 4x4 that lived it's last years as a farm tool truck.
Bid to buy, not look.
