Land Rover 109 Santana 4x4 with Left Hand Drive. Clear Texas title. This vehicle has the look of the classic Land Rover and turns heads but has been upgraded with modern technology to be fast, fun, reliable, and comfortable. It has a modern 5.3L GM V8 engine and transmission and can easily tow a camper, and run all day at interstate speeds. It has Power Steering, Power Brakes, Air Conditioning, and a modern electronic gauge cluster made by Dakota Digital which can display a host of functions including trip odometer, 0-60 times and warnings. The system has an OBDII port for checking of any engine codes just as most modern vehicles do. This 109 has heavy duty one-ton axles and suspension which are a good match for the increased engine power. It retains the factory LT230 Land Rover transfer case considered to be the strongest and most reliable of the LR transfer cases.
This vehicle has undergone a complete frame-off restoration with no detail overlooked. The frame is straight with absolutely no rust or pitting and it has been cleaned and painted. The aluminum body has been painted both inside and out. Due to the soft aluminum body, there is some waviness and imperfection as is typical of these vehicles but the paint has good shine. The underside has been painted with corrosion resistant paint. The doors have been fully refurbished with no rust on the frames. The front wing sides have been replaced with new aluminum panels. Plastic fenders flares have been added but can be removed without leaving any marks on the wings. The wheels are Land Rover Defender Boost Alloy Wheels with 30mm wheel spacers to provide a wider track. All wiring has been replaced with new harnesses.
About the engine conversion ; the original 4 cylinder turbo diesel and manual transmission have been replaced by a 2013 Chevrolet Truck LS 5.3L V8 with 42000 original miles and a 2009 6L80 6-Speed Automatic transmission . The engine has variable valve timing (VVT) and Multi-Displacement (cylinder deactivation). The LT230 transfer case has been completely rebuilt with new bearings, seals, and upgraded input gear set with oil feed plate for longevity. The engine and trans run beautifully and there are no drips or leaks from this vehicle. The rear axle ratio is 4.70:1 which is great for towing and a nice match for the 6-speed auto.
