You are a looking at a beautiful example of a North American Spec (#3079) 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 with a fresh crate LS3 V8 Swap. The truck was built with a tasteful restomod approach. Rerformance, aesthetic and functionality elements were updated while keeping the rugged essence of the classic Defender. Truck was professionally built and gone through by SEMA show car builder -- Serig Designs in Boca Raton, FL.
The truck started its life as a white NAS Defender but now sits in Beluga Black. Before the LS-swap the truck had around 65000 original miles and has only been driven 550 miles since the complete makeover (as reflected in the new LS-friendly gauge cluster).
The truck currently sits with its Rovers North soft top on but the pictures show it both with top on and off for reference. We will try to be as transparent as possible below because this truck has had a lot of great work done to it, but it is still a 25+ year old truck.
The GoodDrivetrain
-GM Performance 6.2 liter crate LS3 V8 with cam -- Dynoed at 500HP according to trucks builder (less than 2 years old, should still have time left on the warranty, we are locating the paperwork)
-GM ECU and fly by wire gas pedal
-Holley Frostbite Aluminum radiator with triple electric fans
-Hooker manifolds with a 2 into 1 3" exhaust -- sounds amazing -- deep and throaty without being annoyingly loud -- wife and kid friendly
-High performance clutch
-Rover R380 5 speed
-Rover transfer case, axles and brakes
-Bilstein rear shocks
Exterior
-Glossy Beluga Black paint no rust
-Beautiful original underbody in great shape
-Black Land Rover 18" sawtooth wheels with almost new Toyo Open Country 275/65-18 tires
-Rovers North removable soft top
-Full LED headlight, running lights, turn signals and tail light conversion
-Tube rear bumper with swing out tire carrier and tow hitch
-Modernizing grill and headlight fascia
-LS3 side emblems
-Side steps
Interior
-Custom black quilted leather Recaro style seats and center console
-Pioneer audio system with 2 6X9 speakers in the back
-Brand new Dakota Digital VHX-1018-K-W gauge cluster to keep your eyes on the LS (reads 550 miles now)
-Rear fold down jump seats
-Billet shift knobs
-T-Horn R steering wheel
-3M tinted windows
-Land Rover all season floor mats (not in pictures)
The Bad
-Paint looks incredible from a 5 feet, but if you get close you can find some bubbling here and there, scratches, painting marks, chips, etc.
-Transmission sometimes grinds going into 2nd and reverse
-Considering the power of the motor the truck could probably use a brake upgrade from the stock Rover brakes
-Feels like one of the tires might be out of balance
-The key that starts the truck does not lock/unlock the doors; Embrace the soft top lifestyle
-Exhaust system does not have catalytic converters, so it may have to be registered as a classic car to be smog exempt depending on your state/city or have cats added
-Front right turn signal has some moisture in it but still works great
-Could use fresh wiper blades
-Some of the interior switches feel a little crunchy but work
-There are some cracks on interior trim panels
-We have not tested the AC but the heat works well
Truck is sold AS IS, no warranties implied. At the end of the day this is a custom truck and the owner should expect to treat it as such. It is probably not a daily driver and should be treated as the rare and beautiful beast it is.
No test drives without at least $15K cash in hand and I will be riding with you.
