1987 Land Rover Defender 90 - Excellent workhorse

PLEASE READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY This is a 27 year old Land Rover 90, which, for the 12.5 years that I have owned it, has been the utility vehicle on my smallholding.  While it may not be in line for winning any beauty competitions it has been a hugely reliable and robust workhorse which I am only parting with because we are retiring from farming.  The low mileage for its year reflects its very local use on the smallholding where it transported or towed everything from sheep to hay, on and off road, in mud and snow with excellent reliability.  It fires instantly - even after weeks of no use at all - pulls well with bags of power and the gearbox is smooth. The petrol engine can be heavy on fuel and there is no power steering.  However, in all, the vehicle drives very well - exactly as you would expect from a good old 90. It has served me impeccably and I see no reason why it should not give a new owner good service for several years yet.  It has 3 seats in the front and two inward facing bench seats in the rear, although I have rarely used these.  MOT runs until Mar 2015.  It needed a bit of welding underneath in 2012 and 2013 but passed with flying colours this year. It is taxed until August 2014 and will be SORN thereafter if not sold.  In conclusion, this is a sound, reliable vehicle with many miles left in it and is ready for more work or leisure use.
