Description
Thanks for looking at my auction for my 2004 Land Rover Discovery Landmark TD5 Manual. It's in the lovely metallic red with cream piped leather.
I'm the 2nd owner, the first being a Haulage Company in my home town, so serviced on the dot every year. I've kept up the annual servicing at a local garage, the next one being due around May 2016.
It is in lovely condition, not the usual rotten hag. It had its last MOT in December 2015 and went through first time with no advisories at all. The chassis (a normal bug bear of the Disco 2) is absolutely solid, no rot at all. However I have filled the cavities with Dinitrol and covered the outside of the rear chassis as well, just to further protect it. However it is not covering up anything nasty, I absolutely guarantee that.
Another problem with Discos is the rear suspension airbags and these were replaced recently, so no worries there. It had new All Terrain tyres last year and they have done no more than 1,000 miles since. The spare has never been on the tarmac. You'll see that I added spotlights on an 'A' bar - purely because I like the look of them. It has got upgraded headlamp bulbs and the lights are pretty good, so the spotlights are just cosmetic, although they are working and wired with the main beam. I also added the headlamp grilles, again just because I like the look of them. They are a slight deterrent to the low life who pinch headlamps though.
I had the EGR valve removed for better economy and better performance and it has a K&N Air Filter to help it breathe better. You'll also see the USA cup holders in there - these are far superior to the daft ones that Land Rover fitted.
Apart from those modifications, it is a good standard unmolested Disco. It will go anywhere and tow anything, ideal for the winter weather and for towing a caravan or trailer in the summer months. Having the air suspension and stability control makes it rock steady on the motorway. Then seats are still fine, no rips or tears at all.
The only bit that I need to mention is a very small amount of surface rust on the nearside rear door arch. It is not terminal and has not gone through, just surface. I treated it last summer but I've noticed that over the winter it has come back, so could do with doing again before it becomes serious. But the inner wheel arch is fine with no signs of any rust at all, so just surface rust.
It's still got the standard Land Rover Radio / cassette player and CD auto changer. All buttons work on it and the display is all working.
Everything on the Disco works, which is amazing! The climate control works and gets nice and cold in the summer, even the cruise control still works.
Unfortunately though, it is time for me to move it on and for somebody else to enjoy it. Between the last 2 MOT's it did just 2,000 miles, so it is becoming an ornament on my drive. This is a weekend toy and so I've decided to get rid of my work car and this Disco and just get 1 car. Really sad as this is my 5th Discovery and it will be strange not to have one in the family, but times change.
I would welcome any inspection at all. Please come and look at it before bidding. It is a lovely motor but it is still nearly 12 years old, so it is not factory fresh.
Please contact me on 07850 195210 at any time with any questions. The car is at my home in Stafford, but I work away quite a bit during the week. However there is somebody at home during the week if you wanted to view - I'm sure we could come to some arrangement.
Please, only bid if you are serious in wanting to buy. If you're the highest bidder, you buy it, simple as that. Please, no agencies, no canvassers, nobody saying they have a buyer and if I pay them money then they will put me in touch. Just true honest people please.
Many thanks, Andy
