Description

Relisting due to a non paying bidder. Please bid only if you are serious about following through on the purchase. eBay fees are high and non paying bidders cost me every time I list.

For Sale is our beloved 2004 Range Rover Westminster that we’ve owned for more than 10 years. This is a unique vehicle that still to this day gets a lot of comments and attention at the gas station and it’s not uncommon to see people taking pics of it in the parking lot. It’s likely the only one like it you will find with the Westminster option and the custom finish. The $84K Westminster model is a limited production fully loaded model of which only 300 were made each year. The paint color is Ferrari Rosso Scuderia and is obviously not the factory color. The story goes, the editor of Vogue magazine wanted her (leased) RR finished in Ferrari Red or maybe it was Lipstick Red she was looking for, but the factory in England would not offer a custom paint color so it was ordered in Bonatti Gray.Once in the US, the vehicle was sent to a high-end shop in the NYC area where it was completely disassembled and refinished with PPG finish #229172 Rosso Scuderia. The $4000 chrome wheels were added at the time.I spoke with the owner of the shop shortly after I purchased it and he told me that he personally went to the Land Rover factory to learn the various sheens and textures of the paint so it could be painted as closely to factory as possible. The paint work was very thorough, and you’d be hard pressed to find traces of the Bonatti Gray anywhere on the vehicle. The cost of the refinish was $22K bringing the total cost of the vehicle to $110K.There are now a little over 135,000 miles and up until a couple of months ago it was running and driving great until the timing chain guides began failing.Shortly before that, the steering column/ignition lock mechanism had failed and the key would only turn if the #10 fuse was pulled out and put back in or if the key was not taken out at all.We drove it like this for a while by just leaving the key in the ignition and covering it with a towel or surgical mask.It still starts up and drives, but it probably shouldn’t be driven very far until the guides are replaced. If I had more time to work on it and a good place to tear it apart, I would fix it and keep it, but sadly the time for us to move on gas come. All manuals and books, carpeted floor mats, cargo cover, two keys, and most receipts included. The clearcoat is starting to peel but it’s limited to above the body line and to the bumpers so it could be partially resprayed if the new owner prefers to do so.The body is otherwise in very good condition and there is not a ding or dent on it. The chrome wheels do have some minor corrosion, but still look good from a distance. The interior is in good condition showing some normal wear to trim panels, etc. The driver's seat shows some wear through in the welt, but is otherwise in very good condition. The passenger seat is in excellent condition as might be expected for a 110lb. passenger and the back seat has seen very limited use.
I want to reiterate that you should plan to either have this vehicle shipped to your location at your cost or pick it up with a car hauler. Driving it home is probably not a good idea since the timing chain has excess slack.
