Relisted as a classified ad due to 'phantom' buyer at auction
1986 Range Rover 4 door
Mileage 146,150 (this will creep up as the car is my daily driver)
MOT Till May 16
Remote Central Locking with Alarm/Immobiliser
Originally a 3.5 V8, now running a Perkins 4.182 (3.0 litre) Turbo Diesel married to the original 4 speed automatic gearbox. Slower than the 3.5, but excellent reliability, lower running costs and bags of torque make this Range Rover a very useable daily classic and an excellent towing vehicle. The front end is from an earlier 2 door model and was replaced with the engine.
Good points:
-Bodywork in good condition for age
-Recent Terrafirma steering damper and Terrafirma shocks all round
-Tyres are Continental 4x4Contacts, 2 replaced 300 miles ago, the other 3 have about 1000 miles on them, loads of tread left including on the spare
-Remote Central Locking and Alarm system
-Welding done on sills and arches for last MOT
-Fully working Tow rig (spare plate included)
Bad Points:
-Rip in drivers' seat bolster and steering wheel (pictured)
-No radio
-Headlining is sagging at the rear
-Top tailgate pneumatics don't work (I prop the tailgate open)
-Driver's door trim is loose at the bottom. This has caused the locking motor and window to jog loose. I will fix these when I get a couple of hours spare.
The main problem this car has is a tired interior (as outlined above). It wouldn't take much to straighten this out, and the car is generally in good mechanical condition. It has served me well as a daily driver and can be driven away.
Selling to fund an overhaul of my Series Land Rover.
