Description
For sale 1999 Range Rover P38a 4.6 HSE in Rioja Red with beige
leather interior, Turner Engineering top hat liner engine running on LPG and
with tow bar. Selling with MOT until November 20th and have no reasons why it should sail through the next. Tax has now expired.
It is with a heavy heart that the time has come for me to sell my beloved range rover. I’m currently the vehicles 3rd owner. I brought it from my father in October 2014 and he brought it from the original owner in November 2008. I have change Jobs and relocated since buying it and now simply it doesn’t get used and they should be so sadly it’s time to move on.
To the faint hearted this vehicle will seem a little daunting as it has an impressive 233193 miles on the clock. But please don’t let this put you off it has been very well maintained by main agent for its first 2 years and by a single Landover specialist ever since. The service book has all it stamp present bar 2 because the book was not available at the time of service but date and mileage of the services are known.
To those that know anything about P38’s the engine is a Turner Engineering top hat liner engine fitted at the start of 2008 with 173000 on the clock. Also it has the later style twin plenum intake system. Plugs and leads were change for genuine items at the last service December 2015 at 230593 miles.
Gear box has had the oil and filter changed every 24k and the flex plate was changed at 209878 miles in May 2011
All the air springs, compressor, shock absorbers, suspension bushes and ball joints were replaced at 200000 in august 2010, this coupled with the 16inch rims it has an extremely smooth ride and just eats up the miles with huge levels of comfort.
Tyres are General Grabber AT2 fitted at 185242 miles January 2009 and still have plenty of tread left (6/7mm) and a full size, brand new matching spare tyre. Brilliant tyres in all conditions no need for winter tyres with these fitted.
The LPG conversion was carried out by D&N auto gas in Somerset November 2008 at 183962 miles almost as soon as my father purchased the vehicle. The conversion is fully certificated and manufactured by Nicholson McLaren.
The list of work carried out to this vehicle is vast and detailed; whenever it needed something it was done. Rather annoyingly there are no sales invoices for virtually all work carried but dates and mileages can be proved just not printed out due to the garage manager system archiving work over 2 years old and deleted at 7 years old.
Due to being 16 years old and is only 5000miles short of having driven to the moon and back the body work is not perfect and the interior is used but not worn. If you’re after a good solid hard work this is your guy if you want something box fresh maybe not so much. I strongly advise viewing the vehicle. I have included a few pictures of the main points on the body work and the driver’s seat.
There a few minor electrical items which have stopped working, the CD changer jammed up years ago and is no longer fitted and the LCD display of the original radio intermittently doesn’t work but all the Harmon Kardon speakers and radio reception are working perfectly. Lastly the Cruise control doesn’t engage.
In summary this is one of the most genuine and worthwhile P38’s it drives brilliantly and its engine is a gem with 60k under its belt. It’s not going to win any prizes for the body work but would detail up nicely if you’re into that sort of thing. If you’re like me you will just love floating from A to B with views high above the motorway with no fears of the weather conditions (hot or cold) and knowing you’ll get there.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me with them as I’d love to see it go to a good home.
Payment to be made at the time of the collection from my house near Okehampton
