Vehicle Original VIN : 2Y86H412867
Gateway Classic Cars of Scottsdale is delighted to feature this elegant 1962 Lincoln Continental 4-door convertible for sale on consignment at our Arizona showroom, located in North Phoenix. Known as one of the greatest and most memorable of the American “big-body" sedans, the Continental could claim to be the pinnacle of global automotive luxury standards in 1962. Marketed as America's first post-war 4-door convertible, this land barge of a Lincoln was in its fourth generation by the 1960s and features a “Royal Red" paintjob, suicide doors and a power-operated convertible top (not currently functioning reliably- please inquire for details) that folds away into a compartment behind the rear seats where a trunk would otherwise be located. This example has been owned by the same party as part of a collection for almost four decades which might explain the seemingly original appearance of this classic Ford luxury product. Powering this 4-door convertible, which weighs a whopping 5300lbs and has a 123-inch wheelbase, is a capable 430 CID V8 engine that was rated at 300hp from the factory. We do not have specific documentation that the motor in this Continental is the “numbers matching" unit, but the seller believes it is and has receipts for a rebuild that was completed in 2004. The mileage reading of a little over 53,000 also appears to be consistent with records. An automatic transmission completes the drivetrain, shifting this cool Continental to your destination in one of three speeds. As represented by the rest of this vehicle, the Red leather interior with upscale wood paneling and instrumentation on the dash looks remarkably original and has a multitude of power features to enjoy such as power windows, power locks, power seats and an AM radio. We have original owner's manuals that come with this car along with a number of receipts and records that document the maintenance history on this car since the owner purchased in the 1980s. This era of Lincoln Continental has gone down in automotive folklore as one of America's defining classic cars. They're large, powerful and stylish- everything that the rest of the world envied about the American lifestyle in the 1960s is present in this luxury 4-door convertible. [ omitted ]. [ omitted ].
