Description

Ford 460 big block V8, C6 heavy duty automatic, Ford 9 inch rear end with 2.75 gears, leather interior. Please read carefully before asking any questions.
This car was stored in a climate-controlled garage for 25 years before my purchase about a year and a half ago. At that time, it had only 24,666 original miles on it, so I have put less than 400 miles on it since restoring it. The exterior and interior are in immaculate condition (I hand polished the paint), with no tears in any of the leather seats, the dashpad, the headliner, or the landau top. This car starts easily, runs smoothly, and rides comfortably. Cars with more miles of similar vintage and condition are going for many thousands more on eBay.
New parts include: (5) General Altimax RT43 235/70R15 tires (still have the originals, which were not dry-rotted), all new coolant hoses, radiator, radiator cap, thermostat and gasket, thermostat housing, new belts, front wheel bearings (inner and outer) and grease seals, front rotors, front calipers, front pads, front brake hoses, master cylinder, power brake booster, rear brake hose, rear wheel cylinders, rear drums, rear shoes, rear brake hardware, Cloyes double roller timing chain, Ford racing performance parts harmonic balancer, Edelbrock aluminum water pump, front crankshaft seal, valve cover gaskets, rebuilt carburetor, air filter, breather element, spark plugs, Accel plug wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, ignition coil, distributor vacuum advance, Pertronix electronic distributor conversion, battery, fuel pump, two new fuel filters (additional placed between tank and fuel pump), fuel tank and pickup/sending unit, gas cap, front and rear shocks, Powermaster hi torque gear reduction starter, B&M cast aluminum deep transmission pan (+2 quarts with pickup extension), transmission filter, power steering pump, voltage regulator, TCI shift improver kit (not harsh at all, used the RV settings), ARP 12 point stainless bolt kit (not all installed, but all come with car), heater core, blower motor, high and low beam headlamps, LED rear backup lights, wiper blades, and two new front power window motors (driver's side installed, passenger's side new in box).
If you can find a more thoroughly updated version of this model, I'd love to see it. The oiling system was carefully primed several times with a mix of fresh oil and Seafoam additive through a new filter, then the system was drained and another oil filter and fresh oil (Castrol GTX) used with a bottle of Edelbrock zinc additive before the engine was ever started. I kept many of the original parts that I removed, including the water pump, harmonic balancer, tires, transmission pan and fasteners, etc. I have several additional parts not yet installed that will go with the car. These include heavier duty front and rear Addco swaybars, heavy duty oil pump driveshaft, 140 amp Powermaster alternator and Painless installation kit (heavier gauge charge wire, etc.), and the remains of a complete engine gasket set, some of which I used in the course of repair. The original owner's manual is in like new condition, and a complete fold-out wiring diagram comes with the car.
What is wrong- not much. The passenger side front power window stopped working about two weeks after I started driving the car in the up position, and I have a new one that comes with the car. A/C needs to be charged, and the blower motor resistor is missing one coil (it's an 8 pin connector, and I have a lead on a new one from a Lincoln parts house for about $40.) Heater is strong and so is blower motor, but the automatic climate control works on defrost and defog only. The radio also seems to generate no sound, but I have not taken the time to troubleshoot it, either.
These are minor fixes, and have not stopped me from enjoying the car on sunny days, even in cooler temperatures. The car has never seen rain since I've owned it, or in the last 26 years at this point! As you can tell, I've spared precious little in bringing this car back to life. Don't waste my time with low-ball offers, cashiers' checks, or scams. Serious offers only. If you'd like any additional pictures, please ask, as I took many throughout the time I worked on bringing the car back up to snuff.
