Description

Up for sale is my 1978 Lincoln Mark V. This has the rare carriage top option with the cordovan luxury group and is a fully loaded, matching numbers, excellent classic Lincoln. The car has had no accidents and has been well taken care of. It is not flawless but it looks good and drives great. I am selling because I just purchased a 2004 Towncar and I don't have room for the V anymore. This car has been in my family since new and I am the third owner in my family. My aunt's parents bought it in 1978, and gave it to my Uncle in 2000. It was garaged during this era and since, it has been under a car cover. I purchased the car from my Uncle in 2006. In the last few years many things have been done including:
A/C Converted to R-134
Heater Core
A/C Evaporator Core
New A/C Control Unit
New cluster backing
Headlight switch rebuilt
Tires
Brakes
Master Cylinder
Radiator
Hoses
Belts
Starter
Battery
Alternator
Regular Servicing
Paint
Vinyl Top
and the list goes on
The A/C is ice cold and I just had it serviced last year, it has all new parts, (compressor, evaporator core, o rings, etc.) the heat works great as well as all power options (with the exception of the clock (none of those work!) and the miles to empty).
The car has normal wear and tear, there is some minor cracking on the paint on the rear driver's fender, a light scratch, light chips here and there (I am a perfectionist, most people do not notice), but, the exterior is about 8/10, with the interior being a 9/10 and the mechanical being 10/10. The engine is clean and runs great. Brakes are firm and feel like new (just had them done about 2-3 years ago with new shoes, discs and master cylinder). The transmission shifts smoothly as well. The car does not and has never overheated and the hoses and thermostat as well as the radiator were replaced in 2011.
I took off the padding under the hood years ago because it was deteriorated, but, you can order a new one on ebay (under the hood there is some light surface rust, as Ford did not coat the underside of the hood, with cleaning it should all come off, this is a result of the padding that used to be there and condensation collecting as is common with every old car I have seen). This is a native California car, and the light rust (very small, by the vinyl top) is common to almost all of them in CA that I have seen. There is a chip on the drivers rear fender by the moulding with a small spot of surface rust (smaller than a dime). There is no cancer rust or anything like that, just what I have mentioned in the condition section as well as here. The paint is good, as mentioned there are some chips, a couple of small bubbles, and normal aging here and there (it was painted in 2007). The paint still shines and looks good. The Vinyl top was done in 2008 and is still very clean and nice. The leather interior is in good condition, dash has light aging, and the door panels are nice with normal wear and tear.
I have all maintenance records going back to day 1, including the original window sticker. The car is registered, smogged and has been driven every weekend.
If you buy the car at the buy it now price it will come with about $1000 in spare parts, including an extra cluster, radios, hubcaps, and much, much more, the trunk is filled!.
If you want a nice Mark V for a good price, mine is the one! Unlike so many others, mine has not been sitting for years and would be great as a show car or a reliable driver. In this auction I am not goofing with the guessing game of reserves, there is a buy it now price or you can make a reasonable offer (the worst I can say is no, so make a fair offer!). But ask yourself the question: How much is a car worth with all the records, a car that runs great, and has everything fixed? My car may not have the look of a 100 point show car, but, it is distinctive and in good shape, ready to drive anywhere, with no dubious history and an honest seller with all records. The car has been well taken care of, and is ready for a new owner! I am a current member of LCOC and LZOC and a former president of LZOC-W. I will not handle any shipping, you must pay in person and in-cash, there is no warranty or returns. Feel free to call with any questions- 909 996 1689.
