Description
Relisted due to usual time wasters.
Here is a 1989 maserati 222 coupe. The car is complete and does run and drive, however there are a number of problems. The car has no MOT and had been stood for a few years before we got it. The car would make a perfect project for someone, as all parts are here and many problems may be very easy fixes caused by the length of time it has been sitting. it is up for sale as it was beyond our customers budget, however for someone doing the work themselves this would not be an issue.
The shell and bodywork on the car are not rotten, however there are some signs of surface rust appearing under the car. It is not beyond repair at all and would be easily fixed by someone who has the time, but it will need sorting soon before rust really starts to take hold of the car. The external bodywork is in good condition, with no major rust or damage, however the car has been treated to a poor paint job, which will need proffesionally polishing or possibly respraying to bring it up to quality again.
Mechanically The car is complete, and it does run and drive under its own power, however there are a number of problems. The battery is totally dead, however once jump started the alternator will charge to keep the car running. The brakes bind slightly and this gets worse as you use them, so they will need looking at before the car can be used safely. there are a few intermitent wiring faults around the car. A loose connection or a broken wire in the engine bay occasionally causes the car to cut out, however a wiggle of the wiring loom soon gets her going again! we havent traced the problem yet. some of the guages work, but the speedo reads varying speeds even when stationary, and i dont believe the fuel guage to be working either.
The gearbox works well, selects smoothly works with no noises or vibrations, however the engine is in need of TLC. The oil pressure light goes out straight away, and it runs quite smoothly once started, however there is some oil contamination in the water header tank so we suspect a possible head gasket failure. As you can see the car requires a lot of work, however it is very saveable if someone who has the time to do it. The interior is in good condition, as is the majority of the exterior and the wheels, and with a little time spent sorting out the problems it would make a great future classic for someone.
Vehicle is sold as seen, no warranty or returns offered, collection only within 7 days of end of auction, cash on collection is fine.
