Description

Ladies and gentlemen! Presented today upon the auction block for your refined bidding pleasure is one 1991 Mazda 323. It is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission and manual pretty much every thing else - no power anything to fail and leave you stranded. I, for one, consider this a huge bonus. The 323 was the hatchback version of the Protege in the US and shared many common components with the Ford Escort, Aspire, and Festiva, the Kia Sephia, and the Mercury Tracer, making it easy to find and swap parts between them. The rims are alloy daisies from a first generation Miata. The tires are Cooper CS4 Touring and have tons of tread on them still. This car served as my daily commuter for three years and did an admirable job of it. And now on to
Vehicle Condition
Make no mistake about it, this is a used car. It is being sold as-is because it is 23 years old (young?) and decidedly spent none of that time serving as a showroom piece. That being said, the body is solid and free from any serious rust issues.
- The AC does not work - (windows do though - roll 'em down and drive faster!)Fuel filter needs to be replaced.
- There is engine noise - a chattering sound. I am not a mechanic, but this probably needs to be addressed.
- The fuel filter will need to be replaced. This car is old. The gas tank has gunk in it. If you drive it until the tank is low, all that gunk tries to come out and clogs the fuel filter and it will need to be replaced. The fuel filter is an aftermarket in-line, so easy to replace and not too pricey. And that reminds me
- The gas gauge is broken. It will try to win your favor by providing you with an estimate of your remaining fuel that is highly optimistic. Do not trust its lies.
- CD player does not work - it clearly was not a factory install - it is branded Mazda and most likely started life in one of Mazda's less spartan offerings. As i picture it, the 323 likely realized the foreign intruder and attacked it with all of its car antibodies until it was no longer a threat to the host.
- Door locks do not work. Be not afraid, however, for no car thief has the refined palate to appreciate the true value of this car.
- Front passenger seat belt broken. Friends keep bugging you for a ride? Well, they will have to sit in the back if they want a lift because safety is important and stuff.
- At least one mechanic has mentioned some sort of suspension/steering issues that will need to be addressed.
Hmm left over in the list of stuff eBay would like me to talk to y'all about today is that I am not the original owner. Don't even know the guy. Vehicle was purchased in Fayetteville, NC a few miles from my house in 2010. The lucky winner of this auction will be responsible for transporting his newly acquired warhorse to its stable. Shipping arrangements are completely on the winner. Payment is due within a week of the auction closing in the form of cash, money order, or cashiers check in person. If you have any questions, send them my way and I'll do my very best to answer them. Let the bidding commence!
