Description
I'm selling my Mazda MX-5, after a couple of years of trouble-free motoring I am changing jobs and I need something that can do a lot of miles in the next few years. Having said that, I've had not a moment's trouble from this car in the two years or so that I've owned it. I had read about the reliability of the Mazda MX-5, and can absolutely vouch for it. It's quick when it needs to be, and of course you get the chance to enjoy the wind in your hair when it's not raining :) Even in the winter, with the heated leather seats and powerful fan heater you can have a ball in this car with the roof down. It's also extremely comfortable. I'm a touch over 6' tall and find it very accommodating. The seat won't go back any further though so if you're 6'2" or over it's probably not for you!
This is the 'Mk2.5' version, which is the facelifted Mk2. It's the 1.8iS, which is a special edition, according to this buyers guide it's 'the pic of the Mk2s' - not sure whether the six-speed gearbox is part of the 'special edition' but it's a cracker.
The 1.8iS has the following special features (as per face="Courier" size="5">Rear Mud Flaps
Front Fog Lamps
16" x 6.5JJ Alloy Wheels - 205/45R16
Torsen LSD
ABS
Stainless Steel Scuff Plates
PAS
Power Door Locks
Keyless Entry system
Alarm
Power Windows
Black Leather seats
Nardi Torino Leather Steering wheel
Electric Antenna
There is also a 6-CD multichanger.
It's had 4 new tyres and a new battery (replacing the original) in the past year. The wheels are not the car's best feature, a prior owner obviously painted them and whatever they used is flaking off. I did pick up a set of (second-hand) wheels to replace them but have never gotten around to fitting them so they're included in this auction as a bonus :) There are a few minor marks on the glove box but on the whole the interior and exterior of this car are in very good nick for a 12 year old classic. The soft-top is in very good condition (no idea if it's the original) and has a heated, glass rear screen.
Service history is pretty good but not 'by the book'. There was a full service undertaken only a few weeks ago though.
I'll be sorry to see the back of this car and I suspect that although it was my first MX-5, it won't be my last!
If you want to see the car, please get in touch. Test drives are welcome with appropriate insurance. This is a hell of a car for the money!
Happy bidding :)
