Hello im selling my mazda rx8 which i bought of my grandad. Basically my mum bought it 3 years ago from a dealer on finance but didnt do her research on the rotary engines. the average rotary will last around 50,000 miles, due to the rotar tips burn out and have a lack of compression then bad starting problems. long story short the tips had gone on it at 69k which shows it was a well looked after car. unfortunately my mum couldnt afford for the repair as it costs around £3000 so she asked her dad to buy it of her so she can pay the finance off. my grandad was never able to sell it for the money he wanted. i confronted him 3 years later and said ill buy it of you cheap and ill put a new engine in it. so thats what happened.
so its been parked up for 3 years hence the low millage. its had a new engine and a new clutch the clutch alone was £330, also before my mum sold it my little sister 3 years old blew the sound system so my mum did an insurance job and got a brand new bose sound system installed.
these cars are known for burning oil as there rotarys average is half a litre for every tank of fuel burnt. ive now done 3 tanks of fuel in it and the oil hasnt moved, shows its a very good engine.
the car was run in by me for 500 miles going under 3.5k revs, then every 50 miles after that i went up 1k revs. at 500 miles it got new coolant new oil and new filter change. and will need to be done again at 1000 miles for engine reliability.
New Engine also has new coils new spark plugs new ngk leads. that alone cost £400
there is a problem with the idle of the car it goes up and down which i have been told on forums and local garages that theres a split vaccum hose basically a air leak, this doesnt effect the driving of the car or the power delivery, its purely just idle. i dont have time to fix it as i know work 15 hours a day silage making on a farm and ive had to lend a tone of money for this car aswel so need a quick sale to pay people back so feel free to give me an offer.
theres also another common fault which is apparently a dirty electric plug that need cleaning to fix the power steering fault. basically it works but left works better than right. where the over flow bottle is there plugs under it that gets wet and causes the plugs to rust very easy fix and cheap.
i want to tell the 100% truth about the car because ive bought of liars before and its not nice. so also the body work on the right hand side isnt great. which my aunty did 3 years ago at asda car park. ive been quoted £240 by the local dent magic guy to make the car look new.
the car flew through the mot after all that time parked up. its a very very good car that handles well. makes you feel special driving it very modern inside.
this model is the best of the best model to buy so i know theres some problems with it but what car at that age doesnt.
