Description
1976 450SL features the 4.5-litre V-8 engine offering a top speed of 135 mph, and presents a harmonious courtship of understated prestige with sporty flamboyance.
The Mercedes-Benz SL series started out as the top of the line sports luxury tourer that offered both performance and comfort. The third generation SL was called the R107 chassis and is one of the most recognizable Mercedes of all time. Produced from 1971 all the way to 1989, the R107 lived a long and cherished life.
This is the European model shipped in 1975 to the US - the SL's still represented the cream of the personal luxury car crop. The 450SL offers an excellent blend of both class, elegance and V8 performance.
The 4.5L V8 is an excellent runner and the car has been very well taken care of since new. I have all records and have had a Mercedes master mechanic recently go thru the car. The automatic transmission is smooth and unobtrusive and the car goes down the road very well with a strong purrr. This is an excellent example of lovely classic roadster.
Has a "Salvage Title" yet nobody know why - was done in error. A spark plug wire was incorrectly installed and rested on the engine and wire caught fire. No damage took place. Purchased from original owner and have all records serviced at Beverly Hills Mercedes since purchased.
