Description

Here's my wife's former work sedan. She Loved this car and drove it forher hospice nursing. Due to it's age repairs started being needed. Itwas taken to "The" Mercedes garage in Coos Bay (Metric Motorworks).About the time I thought we had run out of things to replace, the headgasket went, just some seepage that was causing a slow leak. With so many new parts, and expert servicing, only made sense to do the headalas, when removed it had a hairline crack. So the bill was going to go much higher, so we decided to make a change. This car was never over-heated, and always had it's 3,000 mi oil changes etc. Did not use oil. Body is just about perfect. The head is off and all parts in trunk. John pointed out and was impressed seeing no ring wear and the camshaft looked great too.The head, of course, was off the car at the garage when the slight crack was discovered and it, and all associate parts are in the trunk. Before the head gasket problem a fellow pulled out in front of her some with ensuing damage. Nothing structural or serious Front fender mostlyas the insurance company went ahead and paid for professional repairs. Since it has sat and not been rubbed/waxed for quite sometime, there is sheen/surface condition between the new and original paint, which the older sections just needs rubbed out and waxed and the color looks great and it is really a beautiful car. NOT a rust bucket. Handles like a dream, is comfortable, gets GREAT mileage for any car, much less a mid-size luxury sedan (37-42 MPG). Will need engine rebuilding or replacement. 4 cylinder / Automatic Transmission. The interior overall is very good condition. The seats overall are quitegood with several small punctures but very sound and mostly look great. Really quiteexcellent overall condition considering the age. The dash has cracks aswell as some small ones on the faux wood-grain piece surrounding theshift lever etc. between the front seats, as well as the windshield. Thevinyl on the rear small quarter panels up over your shoulder isbecoming unattached and just needs a little adhesive of some sort andtucked in around some edges, as well as a little of that happening onthe drivers side door panel at window. None of this is torn, just needsreattached some. Very good condition on the door panelsas well.. The carpet underneath the factory floor mats is all sound as it was always covered with mats, notseeing tears or excessive wear at all (not threadbare at all). One factory floor mat has seam on the side coming loose and not sure if the driversside mat is around or not. The headliner looks real good, and thesunroof was working when it was parked several years ago. Here's a large portion of work done in short time span before the head gasket problem:
New brake rotors / New struts and bumpers / New wiper washer hose / Steering box / New fuel tank sending unit and filters-tank fully cleaned / New parking brake shoes / Seals replaced on fuel supply valves-pump / New drive belt tensioner / New glow plugs / New radiator (Right before head) / New heater blower motor / New Heater Core / New Water Pump / New Flex-disc center support / New drive shaft boot / New Front Ball Joints / New Aux fan switch / New Temperature Switches. I''m sure there's morebut that gives you a good idea of how far we went in renewing this sedan. The Michilins on it weren't very old either. I have all the invoices for the extensive work. A local fellow kept saying he wanted it. He has never came through, and has proven to be definitely a "tire kicker". This would make a very nice keeper, with engine repair or replacement, or one heck of a parts car for like vehicles. I just need to get this out thereit needs to go. It is not washed in pics either, paint is in excellent condition. Keep in mind this is a project car and will need work and some clean up to restore to it's full glory. We assume no responsibility for any/all faults. It is a fixerPlease read my feedback to see how I take care of business.
