Description
My 1968 Mercedes-Benz 230 is finished in a Light Red over a black MB interior and was purchased one year ago. Power is from a 2.3-liter petrol inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission, and work completed by the seller has included updating the spark plugs and wiring, upgrading to electric fuel pump, upgrading original Zenith Solex 35/40 INAT carburetors to twin Spanish 32/36 Weber carburetors, replacing bushings in the rear, new exhaust and muffler, new battery, and rebuilt front caliper. This W110 is located in San Luis Obispo, California and is offered at 11,000 with a journal of maintenance, service invoices, and a clean California title in the seller's name. Original spare, extra windshield washer reservoir, extra temp gauge, many other various extra parts.
The body retains a red finish that is shown close up in the photo gallery below including areas of paint wear. The original beige MB paint is bleeding through the red making appear oxidized. Details of the chrome trim and glass are also included in the gallery. The presence of rust is noted on the underside of the front doors, near the hood hinge, and is pictured in the gallery below.
13” steel wheels wear body-colored covers. The six-cylinder fintail models received cosmetic updates in 1965 that included squared-off taillights, front turn signals below the headlights, and the deletion of chrome on the rear fins.
The cabin is trimmed in black MB with grey carpet floor covering and a black dash. The previous owner “updated” the original radio to an aftermarket Sony but I took the liberty of finding an original radio that is included with the car.
Instrumentation includes a vertical 100 mph speedometer, and the 5-digit odometer shows approximately 19k. The odometer has turned over once.
The 2.3-liter inline-sic produced 135 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque when new and is mated to a 4-speed manual gearbox. Outside length: 4730 mm / 186.2 in, width: 1795 mm / 70.7 in, wheelbase: 2700 mm / 106.3 in.
At the choice of the buyer, available in the sale for no extra charge is a 60's w110 190 parts car.
