1979 Mercedes-Benz 240D Original 34K mile car

I bought this original low mileage example out of 30 year storage in a warehouse. last owner bought it and drove it a short while. apparently an oil cooler line broke, starved engine of oil and locked it up. I got the car minus engine. I bought a replacement "rebuilt" long block from someone on facebook. installed the engine, it looked good all around. tried to start it and no go. after much fiddling we did a compression test and it was 200 psi on all cylinders. too low for a diesel. something is not right. but the engine was clean and showed all signs of being rebuilt. it needs a leak down test and probably a tear down to remedy the problem.
Otherwise, I also put $6,000 into overall refresh to take care of deterioration from storage. new tires, brakes hoses, vacuum lines, fluids and suspension bushings. new vacuum pump on engine , new injectors, lines and fluids and filters.
the car is in amazing condition for its age. paint good, no rust anywhere, seats, carpet and door panels perfect. trunk clean. This is truly a low mileage example with a poor engine. If you are comfortable with these little diesel engines this could be a fairly easy fix and a great car/investment.
Sunroof too.
I have $12K in this including purchase price and repairs. Would like to get half that. reduces my pain a bit. its worth that money
