Description
This car has been my daily driver for a little over a year and I've done several 200+ mile trips on it with no overheating or breaking down. Always starts up well, even on cold mornings, and has never left me stranded. It has 261k original miles and the odometer still works. I recently got a 4x4 and don't have room for 2 cars. It's the 5 cylinder engine so it'll be a bit faster than a 240D but not as fast as the 300D turbo. Never needs to be smogged and fees are paid until August 2019 (photos taken before I got the new sticker). The paint and interior are in great shape for how old it is, there's a bit of cracking starting on the passenger seat but overall it looks great. Here are the issues:
- vacuum leak: shifts too early, reverse takes a long time to engage occasionally, central locking only works about 5-10 seconds after car is shut off
- steering lock will lock up the ignition if the key is taken out. I've been keeping one key in the ignition and locking the doors with the other one
- small leak on the top of the windshield, water drips into the car
- slow oil leak, don't even have to add any oil between oil changes
- slow transmission fluid leak from the pan, have to top off fluid every 8 months or so
- the usual w123 dash cracks and cracked rubber moldings
- A/C doesn't work
- front doors are missing the "pockets". I got the car like that, no idea what happened to them
- front rubber door bumpers need to be replaced. Front doors need to be slammed harder than normal to close fully
