This beautiful, correct, and highly original 1968 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3 was magnificently ordered in the exquisite papyrus white over a blue leather interior. Making the specification even more desirable, it was also equipped with factory Air Conditioning and Sunroof (options rarely seen together on a European car). Further, having been ordered in Germany, it was equipped with the massively powerful 9:1 high compression, only available in European Specification vehicles. When new, this magnificent motorcar was one of the quickest and fastest vehicles on the road. It blew everything out of the water and was quicker 0-60 and had a higher top speed than a non-sunroof Porsche 911S! More staggering than that, it was faster in a 0-60 run than a Lamborghini Muira! This vehicle was the world’s fastest production sedan from 1968 all the way until 1989! The behemoth 6.3L V8 produced a staggering 300HP and 434lb-ft; in a sedan from 1968 these power figures are mind blowing.
What makes this vehicle truly worth owning is the level of detail and hand assembled craftsmanship that is present in no automobile currently produced. This magnificent motorcar was produced in an era when owning a Mercedes-Benz meant something significant. There was no such thing as a $299 a month lease on a new C-Class; ownership was reserved for just a select few. This vehicle was one of the most expensive and best overall vehicles available during its time. It combined the road holding ability of a sports car with the opulent appointments of the finest luxury cars. This was a vehicle for the most discerning individual to whom sacrificing any virtue of the vehicle for the sake of another was unacceptable.

This magnificent motorcar comes complete with history back to new when it was delivered to its original owner on October 10, 1968 in Dusseldorf, Germany by Mercedes-Benz Kundendienst. It was delivered to the next owner in the United States in 1986 and has a large amount of service records from that time. During the second owners time, he showed it in Hershey, PA where it won the coveted AACA Junior award! Most all of the others have well over 100,000 miles and the supposed lower mile cars have no documentation to support the mileage, whereas this one has everything, even the signed odometer disclosure between the 1st and 2nd owner verifying the miles! Further, the cosmetic condition of this vehicle is above reproach. The paint is gorgeous and has been recently redone to a very high standard in the correct and original papyrus white but the special testament to the vehicles condition is the stunning and 100% original blue leather interior! You will notice some bolster wear, which is to be expected on a vehicle with a 52 year old leather interior but serves as a testament to the way the vehicle was cared for and stored. No other 52 year old Mercedes still bears an original leather interior, let alone one that is as nice as this one. We have left it as-is due to collectability of full originality but for should someone prefer, we have the ability to have the seat bolsters replaced at a very reasonable cost by a local specialist. The seats would be totally disassembled, bolsters removed, high quality German leather would then be vat dyed to match (not a spray so wouldn't wear off), then the new leather goes through a unique process that is proprietary to the leather shop to give it just enough patinaed look so that it blends in perfectly with the original leather that remains on the rest of the seat, then it is stitched in, and the seats are reassembled. This is also a perfect time to rebuild the horsehair to make the seats truly like new. This is a time consuming and labor intensive process, which we will include should the buyer wish, at the buy it now price. Truly, the car shows as a car a quarter of the age and is just magnificent original throughout. General Terms
1. Deposit- A $2,000 deposit must made by the purchaser within 24 hours of the auctions close. Deposits can be made by PayPal or by calling (618)791-4020 during hours of business. Buyer agrees to fund remaining balance due within 3 business days of the close of auction. If the car is not as represented upon your personal inspection here in St. Louis, your deposit will be promptly refunded.
2. Payment- Certified Check, Cashier Check, Personal Check (must clear bank before delivery), or Wire Transfer. The vehicle must be paid in full before the buyer takes delivery or ships the vehicle. International Buyers: Please be aware that you will be responsible for the Federal Reserve fee(s) charged for all incoming wires.
3. Tax and Title- Missouri residents are responsible for taxes, licensing, and plate fees in your county as assessed by the state. All other purchasers are responsible for title, tax, and other fee's as are assessed in their area.
4. Trades- Trade-in vehicles are accepted and encouraged. All trade-ins must be delivered to our facility before taking delivery of your purchase and the buyer is responsible for all transportation charges.
5. Purchasers Inspection- We have made every effort to accurately describe this vehicle and disclose any information known. We welcome and recommend a buyer's inspection. Buyer is responsible for inspection fees.
6. Contingencies- To non-eBay purchasers, anyone with a deposit but the sale is contingent on financing, 3rd party inspection, or any other contingency, the vehicle will not be held and is subject to be sold at any time, until all contingencies are removed and confirmation has been given in the form of a signed purchase agreement.
7. Shipping- The buyer is responsible for all shipping charges. If you have questions about shipping your purchase or trade-in please contact us and we will happily assist you in locating a company that can facilitate the transportation. We assume no responsibility for damage that occurs while in transport.
8. Administrative Fee- The only fee associated with the sale is a $285 administrative fee which is charged to ALL retail customers and covers title transfer, holding costs, vehicle preparation, and overnight documentation delivery (where applicable).
