Description

1983 Mercedes-Benz 300TD TDT.
OM617 engine. "The Million Mile Engine" was dubbed this due to it's high reliability. Mercedes-Benz offers an award to any vehicle that makes it to 1 million miles on the original engine and this wagon is a contender to receive that prize.
The Good
- The engine in this Mercedes is the healthiest OM617 I have ever come across. It cold starts and runs smooth as well as a modern day direct injected diesel engine.
- Original parts. Everything in this vehicle is what it came off the factory having. It even has the two cross beams for the roof rack.
- Rarity. I haven't seen a Wagon W123 come on the market for a while that is under the $15k price point. From the 26k produced, very few are still out there that haven't been fully restored and added to a collection.
- The Self Leveling System was recently overhauled by a classic Mercedes mechanic and works as intended leveling the vehicle regardless of the load placed in the rear,
The Bad
- The front three panels were replaced previously and the paint is mismatched between the original and replacement panels.
- The Power Steering system has a leak in the line. It is barely noticeable but caused the power-steering reservoir to lose half its contents over a period of 6 months.
- The front passenger's side window does not function.
- The rear windshield wiper is missing.
- The antenna is disconnected.
The Ugly
- Mismatched Paint.
- Surface rust on the rear driver's side under the window.
- Very worn driver's seat
- Aftermarket head unit installed by previous owner. (OEM head unit included.)
- Inner door head liner was scraped off. Likely due to wrinkling commonly seen in that material.
- Chrome front and rear bumper pitted.
- Aluminum trim oxidized.
- Trunk carpet sun damaged.
If you have any questions about the vehicle please reach out. I can take videos of cold starts, warm starts, idling, blow-by (minimal) as requested. Thank you.
