Description
1987 Mercedes 420 SEL with 129278 miles.
This car was purchased in 2005 and was driven for a few years by my father-in-law.A few years ago when the paint began to fade and a couple of door dings showed up, he decided to make some repairs and paint the car.He used to restore cars so he had what he needed, except time.A couple of years ago age and illness caught up to him, he is now 91, so he didn't finish the project.
The car wasn't run for a little over a year.It did run fine though.I was actually the last one to run it and it ran great. So when we went to get it running again we found a few problems. The fuel lines in the back of the car at the fuel pump had dry rotted and broken open and all of the gas ran out.So we replaced the fuel lines, put gas in and it would not start.I read that we should replace the fuel filter because it might be clogged, so we did that and still no luck.To see if it would run, we gave it a shot of starting fluid, and it fired and ran on the starting fluid but would not continue. So we know it is not getting gas for some reason. We don't have a garage to do more work on it, so we stopped there.
What I can tell you is the interior is in pretty good shape.I didn't see any rips or bruises on the leather seats. The carpets have seen better days, but maybe a good cleaning will bring them back.
The exterior has some trim removed and is painted in primer.I didn't see any rust, so aside from the paint and a few dings, the body should not require much work.
There are Mercedes tools and a cover included.
Please ask questions, or for more photos.I'll be glad to get answers and photos for you.
