Description
Up for sale is my short wheelbase series 2 W126 420SE V8.
Short wheelbase series 2 V8's are much less common than the long wheelbase
SEL's and are more fun to drive with better handling and less weight. I also
really like the relatively rare metallic colour called 'nachtgrun', which translates to midnign green. I have been
mechanically refreshing the car over the last year as a lockdown project and
have barely had a chance to drive it.
Works carried out over the last year:
8 new Bosch fuel injectorsRebuilt fuel distributorNew spark plugs, leads and distributor cap and rotorRear swaybar end linksNew front discs and brake pads.4 new Bridgestone tyres (less than 800kms)Refurbished 16" S140 style wheels in the correct ET25 offset to suit the W126 (i will supply the original wheels if wanted).New windscreenNew transmission modulator and trans flush / new fluidNew oxygen sensor
The previous owner had new shocks fitted, steering damper, fuel pressure reg and a couple bushes replaced (receipts supplied).
The air conditioning automatic climate control works perfectly, it works almost as well as a modern car. All the electrics work, all 4 windows, sunroof, mirror, seats etc. Cruise control is intermittent.
Of course at this price further restoration can be carried out if wanted, the drivers seat has wear, some timber veneer has cracks in the clear, the clearcoat is going on the top face of the passenger side doors and looking a bit thin on the roof and bonnet. There are a couple small dents, scrapes on bumpers etc. The steering idler sometimes creaks when doing tight turns (new Lemforder one supplied). If you are in the market for a an excellent 420SE I would budget $20-$30k but this one has very good bones, the all important dash has NO cracks and it is not a rusty import, it was sold new in Sydney.
You are welcome to view in person and I’ll take you for a test drive (subject to any restrictions), or if you want to have it towed away interstate I’m happy to assist if you arrnage the transport. The car is currently on non-transferrable NSW historic rego ($45 per year with 60 day logbook scheme).
If you want to discuss further please message me and i will send my mobile number.
