Description
***MECHANIC'S SPECIAL*** The V12 engine and transmission are worth $2,500 by themselves. As you can see from the pictures, the vehicle has lived
a pampered existence its entire life SPANNING ONLY 99,446 ORIGINAL MILES!!! It
clearly shows. You will be hard pressed to find a lower mileage, unmolested
1992 Mercedes-Benz 600SEL V12.
The technology and creature comforts that this car possesses are truly remarkable provided its 22+ year age. It has dual airbags, traction control, anti-lock brakes, power tilt/sliding sunroof, adjustable sport/comfort suspension, active button-controlled charcoal air filtration, power rear sunshade, power tilt/telescopic steering wheel, power adjustable interior rear view mirror, power folding exterior rear view mirrors, power operated rear parking guidance rods, 4-door power assist closing doors, dual climate control, dual paned glass side windows, individually adjustable power and heated rear seats, heated, 3 position memory, and orthopedically adjusting front seats, a concert sound system, in-dash telephone system, lighted rear seat vanity mirrors, the original first aid kit, and the list goes on. The stereo has been updated to a Pioneer Avic-D3 audio unit with navigation, traffic update, blue tooth and rear view camera ability.
The paint is original, and while not without imperfections, shines brilliantly due to its consistent garaged state. The vehicle is 100% Rust Free. The black leather interior is absolutely beautiful. The nicely preserved, original burled walnut wood shines brilliantly and looks great with the exception of some cracking on the shifter console area. You will not be disappointed.
The bad news is that that vehicle has recently entered “Limp Mode.” The car will start but appears to only be running on half of its power. It will only respond to throttle beyond half-peddle, and even then, the car is not suitable for daily travel given its illness. Mercedes-Benz of Memphis has analyzed the car and suggested replacing the dual ignition caps and rotors to the tune of $1,500 plus tax. That's half the car's value and just not worth it since it's not a primary car. The car is eagerly awaiting a new owner – It deserves to be restored to its true glory, and my sincerest wish is that someone will give it a chance. I am realistic though, and I fully welcome a parts car buyer as well. I guarantee it's the finest condition 1992 600SEL parts car in the entire USA.
Detailed Issues With the Car: the engine is in "Limp Mode," there is typical cracking in some places on the center console wood, there is a broken hood release handle (chord still can be pulled open though), the power trunk closer is not pulling the trunk down completely (trunk still closes shut though), the power aerial antenna is broken off and can easily be replaced, and there is some chipping paint on the front bumper.
Please feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have. I will be more than happy to provide further information. Thank you very much for your interest.
PLEASE SEE THE HAGERTY.COM WEBSITE TO VIEW WHAT THESE VEHICLES ARE INSURED FOR. WHEN RUNNING PROPERLY THIS VEHICLE IS EASILLY A CONDITION 3 CAR which is insured for $8,200.
