1980 Mercedes Benz 450 SL Convertible ORIGINAL PAINT ,LEATHER , BEAUTIFUL CAR !

Hi,I`ve owned this beautiful Mercedes for 3 years. The car still has the original white paint job from the factory. Cream leather interior looks great with the white body and brown convertible top. The car looks amazing with the optional white hardtop on. The engine and drivetrain are all original to the car. I`m 58 and have owned classic cars since I was 16 years old. I usually keep a car for 3 or more years and then sell it to by a different classic vehicle. I will tell you everything I know about this car to the best of my ability. I`m describing it like I would want someone to do for me if I was buying their car. This way you`ll know exactly what your buying if you can`t inspect the car in person. I`ve owned 30 + vintage cars in my life and I`m good at picking nice original cars.
I believe I`m the third owner, could be 4th. The car appears to have been garaged it`s entire life, especially seeing that it still wears a 42 year old paint job that still looks nice.
I`ll start with the body. Car has never been hit. The only body work that has been done was when I had a two inch spot of surface rust spot repaired and painted on the lower driver side rear quarter. The body shop did a great job with it. The car is extremely solid with the worst thing visible is a tiny one inch spot of surface rust on driver`s lower front fender. I had the car on a lift and the frame is solid and looks very good. The paint looks amazing for it`s age. I would take an original paint car with some patina over a painted car anyday ! The chrome on the car looks very good,not perfect,but very well kept. The hardtop is in great shape with a small dent in the chrome on the bottom of hardtop. All the glass is original to the car.The convertible top is brown and looks good. A 12 inch thin tear in the top happened last year. I put some water proof tape sealant on the tear so it wouldn`t leak. I wouldn`t replace the top,I would just have a professional shop repair it.
The interior looks beautiful with the cream leather seats. The previous owner bought original leather ( Not Vinyl) seat covers with new padding and had the seats professionally done. They look and feel awesome. This was an expensive job that came out great. The dash is crack free and looks amazing. The carpet,door panels and everything else are original and look great. This cream leather interior is not seen to often and looks amazing against the white body. The car has an Alpine radio that works fine.The interior has been untouched since new,except for the seats being redone and the addition of the stereo. Power windows work fine,I just installed a new switch on the driver`s side.
The cars runs great. It starts perfect hot,warm,or cold. Idles great and drives so smooth. Since I`ve owned the car ,I have put a new alternator ,battery,1 tire, and went through the fuel system,replacing what was needed to make the vehicle run great and reliable . I also changed the water pump and power steering pump. Now they don`t leak and perform as new. I had a professional European car mechanic do all the work. The transmission shifts great and is very strong. The Benz doesn`t smoke or have any bad smells. I believe the leaks are all fixed with the replacement of the water pump and power steering pump. This is a reliable, safe car.
Not working: Antenna,AC,clock,and cruise .The odometer doesn`t work. I can`t tell you how many actual miles,but it looks to be not far off from the 101,000 it shows.
If your looking for an old 450 SL this is a nice,solid,honest car. Not a show car ,but a real beauty to own and drive and bring to car shows.
